Hey friends, how are you doing today? How was your weekend? We had a wonderful weekend, thank you for asking. Hubby and I decided to enjoy a quick weekend getaway. It was time to relax and explore a bit further afield in Watkins Glen, along the beautiful CNY Finger Lakes. It was exactly what 2020 recommended and I’m thankful for the time we spent together. We stayed at a rustic; countryside motel called Seneca Lodge. The staff and rooms of this simple yet charming place were all just perfect. Many vacation plans had to be cancelled due to COVID’19, but staycations are excellent in its place. Explore where you live, get to know the city or countryside, see the beauty around you, before life returns to ‘normal’.

Normalcy, comfortable, same; these are my happy place. Change gives me anxiety because change reminds me that I have so little control over so little in my life. The busy of 2019 has become a bit hazy now and I am accustomed to this new normal, but soon change will come again and with it, I must learn to adapt.

I’ve started a study on the women of the Bible. I wanted to delve a bit into the minds of the women, to understand why they did what they did. Sometimes, people of the Bible can be seen as almost supernatural characters, doing and accomplishing the impossible, when in reality, they are real people, just like you and me. Just like us, they served an impossible God, through them He did the impossible and improbable. Like us they sinned and suffered the consequences and like us they obeyed and accomplished great things, but they remained real people. They had desires and needs like us, they cried and worshipped like us, they laughed and stood in awe of God’s greatness same as we do.

I do believe we are in a better position though. We have the beginning and we have the end of the story. The Word of God is complete in it’s telling of all the knowledge we need to have to live godly and peaceably. King Solomon reminds us that there is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9) and truly there isn’t anything new. There is no new sin being committed today, that hasn’t already been committed in the past, the consequence of sin remains the same according to Romans 6:23 and Genesis 2:17. Just like in the past, people will twist the Word of God to accomplish their goals, but also like in the past, the Word of God will be preached to draw others to the God of the Universe.

We are privileged to live in this time, yes sin abounds, but grace abounds so much more. We do not live in ignorance; we know the truth. There is no excuse when we are ignorant of the Word of God. To some extent we’ve become lazy Christians. We want to be told what the Bible says rather than finding out for ourselves. Our Heavenly Father speaks; His Word is His primary method; His Spirit helps with our understanding and gives the wisdom necessary to ‘hear’ and obey.

Read the Bible friends, get to know your God. Spend time with the Savior and know the Truth for yourself. Do not be content with simply ‘being told’. How do you know what I say is truth? Read the Bible; God’s Word is truth. Truthfully, it’s the only truth that can be trusted today. Read your Bible for yourself, through prayer seek wisdom and understanding for yourself. Use a trusted Bible commentary and take the time necessary to know that you know that you know for yourself. I can assure you on that day, when we stand before the Holy and Righteous Judge, we will have no excuse for our lack of knowledge.

What period of time, do you wish you lived?

Amen! I love your statement;
“Read the Bible friends, get to know your God. Spend time with the Savior and know the Truth for yourself. ”
When I was going through Bible College many years ago for the ministry our Principal would misquote scripture deliberately to see if we pulled him up, if we didn’t because we either didn’t know that scripture or weren’t paying enough attention… he would stop in the middle of the lecture until we realized. He always told us to test every spirit & KNOW the Word.
It was a powerful teaching strategy & one that has lasted over the past 35 years! 😀
Bless you Brenda,
Jennifer

I wish everyone would realize the importance of scripture Jennifer. We squabble because we want our opinions to matter as if it’s truth, when the Bible is the only truth in this world. God bless you, my friend

Beautiful! The Bible, along with our God who wrote it, is the only stable thing we have in this strange time. We’ve been to Watkins Glen and we’d love to go back. The Finger Lakes are so pretty!

We are blessed to have the freedom to read the Word of God. May do not have that privilege. Watkins Glen is absolutely lovely, especially this time of the year

The bible is the book of liberty. We should also endeavour to meditate on what we read so that we can have access to the substance.

I absolutely had a wonderful read. Every part blessed me. Especially, the part of ”when sin abounds, His Grace abounds even more”.
Studying the Bible enables Him to speak to us and remind us of scriptures we had read.
When we do not study, we hear and know Him less. May God help us.

Amen 🙏🏽 there are many deceivers out there using the Bible to deceive. We need to know for ourselves to tell the difference between truth and false. God bless you

Reading about the women in the Bible will be an interesting study. I like the story about the widow who was with Elijah in 1 Kings. Reading the Bible brings us closer to Jesus. ❤️

😁😁 I’m not sure I would respond as Mary did, 😂😂 I’m thankful I live in this time, as for me. Oh but what a time it would have been, to walk with King Jesus. Yes!

Great advice! We won’t know what God says unless we read it.

Amen 🙏🏽 thats the truth, we should never be too hasty in taking the word of others about the Lord, unless scripture verifies it

Amen! And if you don’t understand what you’re reading, pray for wisdom and understanding, and find trusted friend or family to study with you and help you learn to discern what you’re reading. 🙂
Romans 5:20 is such a comforting verse. And it’s fun to see your smiling face! Bless you!

Yes the Bible is the best proof of His existence…reading through the thought, detail, and story lines within there’s just no denying His authenticity. On top of that, just looking at creation it’s so obvious that all of this isn’t here by accident!
Great post friend!!

I like where I am. I like things about other times but I’m thankful to be here at this time. The Lord is moving among us and we are a part of history being fulfilled. Maybe we will even be among the generation that hears His voice and the trumpet taking us to be with Him forever.
