Hey friends, how are you today? How was your weekend? This past week and including the weekend was very busy for me.ย The girls were home, which was very exciting, but rather exhausting.ย I had forgotten how much attention, one needs to devote to young people.ย Whew! Over the weekend, we were back in Ohio again; thank the Lord the girls attend the same university.ย It was cloudy on most days last week, although the temperature wasnโt too bad.ย Last Wednesday, we had another snow storm though.ย Iโm so over winter, Iโm really, really, ready for spring, Lord.ย Iโm ready; itโs even snowing, right now; flurries, but stillโฆ Weโve gone forward in time, which should be a signal that spring is here.ย Oh wellโฆ
I love going to the mall, our local TJ Maxx is at the mall and I enjoy shopping there.ย Actually, there are a few other TJ Maxx(s), but I prefer the mallโs, because I can window shop at the same time.ย I appreciate the beautiful things, as I walk along.ย But one of my favorite pastimes is to โpeople watchโ.ย ย I love to watch people as they go about walking and talking and shopping.ย One can surmise quite a bit about a person by watching them, when they donโt know they are being watched.ย I know rightโฆ. Not creepy at all.ย Most people have the tendency to lower their guard, when they donโt think people are watching them.ย I do that at church too.ย Yes, I do get quite a bit pleasure, watching people.ย Before I approach anyone, I almost always watch them first.ย Please tell me Iโm not the only one, who does this? Iโm not necessarily a โpeople personโ, I prefer being given a task.ย Before talking to someone I donโt know, I prefer to watch them first. I know rightโฆ not creepy at all. ย ย People tell their story, when they think no one is watching.ย They use their body language and their facial expressions, including their eyes, before they use their mouths.
On our journey from Ohio back to our home, my husband reminded the girls that most people are on their best behavior, when they are aware that they are being watched.ย ย Most people desire to leave a good impression on others, they want other people to think highly of them.ย I wonder if they know they are always being watched?
Do you know people are watching us? Yep! They most certainly are. ย The world loves to watch people who claim to be Christians.ย Christians aught to be different, so the world wants to see the difference.ย The foundation of a Christianโs belief is, God is Love.ย ย They want to see the differences between Godโs Love and their love.ย They would prefer us not to tell about it though, they want to see it demonstrated.ย They watch us to see if we really believe what we say about God.ย They watch the manner in which we relate to others, when we think no one is watching.ย They watch our language when we think the spotlight isnโt on us.ย They watch our reactions to stressful situations; I know rightโฆ Not creepy at all, but they are watching.ย Iโm sure weโve been approached by strangers, reminding us of that very fact. ย โI saw you at the mallโ, they say.ย โIโve seen you at churchโ, we are told. What else do they say, I wonder.ย ย What have they observed about me, when I donโt know they are watching? Did I represent the Lord well? Did I allow my feelings to dictate my actions? Oh, that wouldnโt be good, if I did.ย Did I talk too much? What did they see? What do they know? What observations have they made, because I did not know they were watching? Who do they think I am?
The Lord reminds us that the standard for godly living is only found in His Word.ย Iโm afraid we donโt love the Lord enough to be godly all by ourselves.ย We should want to know the standard, because people are watching.ย Who do you WANT people to think you are? ย Do you know what we say and do affect what others think about God?
Let’s keep in touch; follow my Facebook page hereย or find me on Instagram here.

No its not creepy at all. I’m guilty of that as well, but not in a inadequate way. I just love observing others. Even my brothers and sisters in the body as well. Convicting post indeed. I only want the world to see the Light of the World in me. Jesus Christ โค blessings to you sis.

Great reminder! It also makes me think of Godโs grace when I donโt have it all together! I think one of the most important things I can do to be โdifferentโ as a Christian is to be kind to everyone in my path. You mentioned shopping, and being kind to other shoppers or the retail workers can be a light. Thank you also for the reminder that my two daughters are watching me, and I always want to point them to Christ! Thank you!

Amen and amen ๐๐ฝ very well said, we do need tone a light to those we meet. As someone once reminded we may be the first and only bible they may ever read

Great truth..to keep at heart weโre always being watched and great peace (especially when we feel lonely) that our Lord keeps watch over us every moment of every day!!…p.s. my favorite people watching takes place at the Denver airport, and Iโm sure people are watching my back when Iโm there because Iโm typically sleep-deprived and goofy when traveling!!

๐๐๐ the airport would be a great place to people watch, I do certainly enjoy it. I get very quiet when Iโm tired. Can not function when Iโm at that level.

Hi, it’s been a long time since I’ve been here. Hope you are doing well. I’m currently under the process of revamping my blog and I plan (hopefully) to talk about why I’ve not been able to be around as much. Just need a little support. It’ll be great if you can remember me in your prayers. Life’s a struggle and somehow it has managed to slow me down. Trying to get back on the horse. Hope it’s not much to ask.

Wow, what wonderful words to read tonight. โค My mama used to tell me that someone was always watching, and on the rare chance no one was, then God was. (In other words, straighten up!) Thanks for a great post. ๐

๐๐๐ I do remember that, as a matter of fact, I just reminded our girls of that very fact! I most certainly agree with your mama โค๏ธโค๏ธ

I can relate to this while post ๐ I loved watching people since a toddler out by the door and I still somewhat do it. But I understand the whole church concept I get that a lot too.

Yep, I love watching people, especially when they donโt know they are being watched. It really allows you to see them and not just what they want you to see. But I do need to remember that this very same scale is being applied to me too ๐ May the Lord bless you

So true. My father used to tell me and my siblings before we went out – “People are watching. Don’t bring shame to the family name.” I often think now that I don’t want to bring shame to Christ’s name by the way I behave.

I’m so grateful that our Holy Spirit acts as Interpreter between and among us. No matter how we act, it is interpreted by others’ preconceptions, background experiences, and moral codes. We are called to be obedient to God. As long as that’s where we abide, all else is His responsibility. ๐

Thatโs very true to some extent. Itโs kind of hard in some ways to confuse signs of love, grace and compassion, gentleness etc. Most people seem to have a clear understanding of these โค๏ธโค๏ธ May the Lord be with you, my friend

I love people watching, also! It’s so true, someone is always watching, whether it be while you’re at your cubicle at work, your social media posts, or what you say to someone. I pray that our actions are a reflection of His light.
Thanks for sharing โค

My mom’s funeral was over the weekend. After 96 years on Earth, she was ready for Heaven. Many people told me great things about my mom during the visitation. The pharmacist whom she worked with years ago shed so many tears, so I joined in. Sunday school friends, those she taught were now almost sixty. Many people including neighbors, customers, pastor, were watching her, and now they told me about her life. Her favorite saying was: A small hand is easy to fill. She was a giver and people noticed. Someone is always watching.

Lovely reminder, Brenda, as always ๐ Thank you for reminding me that it is important to watch my actions. That no matter what I may think, someone is always watching and we are God’s representatives here on earth. I pray my words and actions become more of a reflection of God’s love and not a reflection of my sinful nature. Glad you had fun with your girls! ๐ God Bless!

Wow, this is a great post, Brenda. I can really relate , I love people-watching and do it often, but also thanks for reminding us that people are watching us and how we live. I forget that sometimes, but Social media has made me MUCH more aware because I’ve put some dumb stuff out there without thinking and later got some feedback that made me feel shame and regret for dishonoring God. I hope you and I get some sunshine soon! Weeks of gray has really hurt my mood.

I need that reminder also and whenever someone tells me, they saw me somewhere, I am reminded of that fact. People are watching; I was told that sometimes, we are the only Bible, some people will ever read. May we choose to be more like Christ
