SUCH & SHENANIGANS

Hey friends, how are you? I know I ask this all the time, but really, I want to know, how are you doing? What’s the temperature, today, in your neck of the woods? What are a few activities you did or events you went to, this week? Has the week treated you kindly?fullsizeoutput_c53Can you believe we are already in the third month of the year? March is here, ladies and gentlemen; Happy March.  Praying that you experience and acknowledge God’s goodness throughout the month.  Spring is on its way; to our Great God be all the glory.  I love Spring; longer days, more sunshine, warmer temperatures; I am ready! Phil 4 4This week’s weather has been temperamental, to say the least.  We had a wind storm on Monday, subzero temperatures on Tuesday and a snow storm on Wednesday, quite fickle if you ask me.  Thursday turned out beautiful, the sun said hello and our temperature soared to a fabulous 34° and today is a whopping 43° (thank You, Lord).5B35C518-AC85-4B29-9331-43B725C923ECFBEBCCBF-7C06-4365-8E1B-3B897E5CE034

I got these beautiful Swarovski jewelry from my wonderful husband for Valentine’s Day.  They are simply gorgeous, I love them, of course, I absolutely love this man, I thank the Lord for him.  This chain is a roughly, twelve inches long necklace, perfect for layering or wearing on its own.  It has a wonderful clasp (that I still don’t know how to adjust).  I have worn it everyday, since I got it.  I also got this beautiful pair of dainty earrings.  With it came these lens for my phone.  I absolutely love it, I enjoy taking photographs (but I am not very good at it).  These make taking photographs fun. IMG_5799On Monday, we went for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. As the primary cook at home, I look forward to dinner dates with my husband. Although lately, I must admit, it has been easier and certainly more enjoyable, cooking for just the two of us. Between my husband and the girls, cooking was more frustrating rather than enjoyable.  Anyway, we enjoyed the food; I order the same thing every, single, time. Yep! I am one of these people, who have a hard time trying new things.  What if I don’t like it? I don’t enjoy food I don’t like; therefore, I play it safe.  We didn’t order any cheesecake though, the calorie count made it a little bit easier to resist.  Usually, at new restaurants, I order foods that LOOK good, very rarely do I look at the ingredients. FLOn Saturday, we drive to Ohio to pick up the girls for spring break (yeah). I love having the girls home, my heart is content, when they are both under our roof.  Both of them have the ‘flu, so I may need to quarantine them, because we don’t want it.  Love them, but not the ‘flu.  I enjoy long drives, I very rarely sleep on the journey.  Sometimes I prefer the drive, not necessarily the destination, but in this case, I do look forward to the destination.  Thankfully both girls attend the same university (thank You, Lord). Benny and I talk all the way to our destination, or one of his favorite games is to figure out the singer or band of various songs we heard as kids.  Do you know, my kids are better at this game than I am?Ps 119 11

I am in chapter four of Ezekiel and I actually feel sorry for the Israelites.  I found myself praying that God will never call me, rebellious. At least, not any more; I was called that on more than one occasion, in my teenage years. Praise the Lord for redemption and sanctification.   But in the first few chapters, God tells Ezekiel, He wants him to speak to the Israelites.  He says this of them…Slide1

That’s sounds very much like judgement is coming.  Did you know that the Israelites had already been captured and in exile at that time?  So was Ezekiel; King Nebuchadnezzer exiled the children of Israel to Babylon.  Nope! I don’t want to hear these words and I most certainly do not want to hear them from the Lord.  Perhaps I need to remember that though my God loves unconditionally, unwaveringly, unfailingly; He will also execute justice as the Perfect Judge.  Huh!

How are you? What passage of scripture are you reading?

  1. I love the name of your blog. Frequently I hear the analogy that we can only see the reverse of the tapestry God is weaving in our lives; the front will be beautiful when he finishes. I have really enjoyed reading this post; you have an insight that is inspiring. God bless.

    • I absolutely love this analogy, sometimes we dwell too long on the reverse and fail to see the beauty, but sometimes we focus too much on the beauty and fail the process; balance helps us to appreciate the journey; the good, the bad, the ugly 😂😂. Thank you for this comment, I love it

      • I’d have to travel to Omaha on the other side of my state to hit up Cheesecake Factory but since my husband’s sister lives there that just might happen!! I imagine it’d be delicious!
And yes the chronological Bible has been fabulous for me because stories are told in order of the how the events occurred so some events you get to read multiple times in a row by different author’s viewpoints! (It makes it stick) I love it, but still love reading from my regular Bible too:)

  3. I read Genesis at the beginning of the year and keep going back to certain passages. I’m also partway through Exodus and Psalms and have read the first chapter of Proverbs.
I love the first chapter of Ezekiel! But I haven’t sat down and read the whole book in a very long time. God bless you!

So happy you’re girls are coming home 🤗 I love the NKJV that’s what I read but I cross reference with the NLT … currently in the book of John and loving it.

    • I love Proverbs 🙂 It is my favorite bro in the Bible especially the 31st chapter. 🙂 Ezekiel is very good, it really demonstrate God as the Great Judge that’s how I see it. 🙂 A bit scary for the Israelites

  6. It is currently 10 degrees here, but that actually feels warm compared to the temps we’ve been having. We have been having so much snow, it is a challenge to get out the driveway. Running out of places to pile the white stuff! 😉

    Stay well! Love from Minnesota.

  7. Hi Brenda!! I love the Cheesecake Factory, it’s a good thing it takes about a half an hour to get there, or I may visit more often!! Yum!
Today is my birthday and I praise God for it!! When my daughter gets home from work this evening we are going to have cake, ice cream, and celebrate together as a family.
Pray your girls feel better very soon and that you enjoy them while they are home!!

  8. Sounds eventful! Hope your girls feel better. There was lots of that going on around here, so much so that our entire homeschool cooperative was canceled due to so many families calling out sick. Have a wonderful spring break with your girls!

  9. We learned three years ago that when one person gets a tummy bug everyone else in the family start drinking 100% pure grape juice. No one else gets sick! Unless they already have it. We have a big family and we used to brace ourselves when the first person got sick we knew it would be weeks for it to go through everyone. For the last three years now only one maybe two people get sick and the rest avoid it with grape juice!

  10. Thank you for a lovely, lively conversation!
    1. We are happy with the low 20s temp today (about 20 degrees warmer than what we’ve been having), but missing some sunshine. My husband is out snowblowing right now, and will do the same after more snow tomorrow.
    2. Our local favorite is Ruby Tuesdays (small town); I like the salmon (plain) and the salad bar.
    3. I love road trips with my husband! We’ve been to lots of faraway places; my favorite was to Alaska.
    4. I’ve been reading about the Israelites in Egypt and their journey to the Promised Land, in Exodus and Deuteronomy. In addition to telling us the historical facts, God has a lot of symbolism here, and I’m drawing on the Holy Spirit to figure out some of what He’s conveying.

    • Alaska 🙂 I want to go there 🙂 We love traveling together. We do have a Ruby Tuesday, but we are not regulars 😦 I do enjoy Cheesecake Factory. When I was younger I very rarely ventured into the OT Books, I can’t get enough 🙂

  12. Yay for your girls coming home, no to the flu! Praying you don’t catch it and they get over it soon!! My husband and I are really bad about ordering the same thing every time. We have recently tried to branch out a little bit and have had some good choices and some not so great ones. We have found some new favorites (but not at the Cheesecake Factory, we don’t have one around here and honestly, we have never been!). I recently read the book of Habakkuk and I have to admit that I think I need to read a different version. I really didn’t get it, lol. I will have to try again with a NIV version or something. I LOVE the KJV for most Bible reading, but something about Habakkuk just didn’t work for me in KJV. 🙂 Our weather has been fickle as well…I am looking forward to warmer temperatures. It is almost 20 in our neck of the woods which is a massive improvement from -4 on Wednesday 🙂 Here’s to warmer weather and more sunshine (I hope!)! God Bless!

  13. Sounds like a great week! This week over here in CT had been a mix of weather as well. Short sleeves, long pants, hoodies. Who knows what you need to wear. If you stay long enough you’re bound to experience all four seasons in a week!

I’m reading through Matthew and studying the various miracles of Christ. Looking at what I’ve missed in the past. How is the crowd around the beaked folks? How are the disciples behaving? What is the response? Really trying to place myself in the scene.

I too am a creature of habit when it comes to food. I like what I like and it’s hard to try new foods. Perhaps a side effect of living with Crohn’s disease. Maybe just my personality.

    Have a great weekend!

    • 🙂 🙂 🙂 This winter has been crazy 🙂 We very rarely go above freezing, but this winter our temperatures have been all over the place. It’s a changeling, I say 🙂 🙂 These are great questions when reading the gospels or the Bible in general.. It helps us to look beyond the surface. Change does not come easily 🙂
