VICTORY IS MINE!!!

Good morning my friends.  How are you doing today? What are your plans? Did you plan to live a victorious life today? Benjamin Franklin supposedly said, failing to plan is planning to fail’.  I am a very competitive person.  I like to win.  I play to win.  The idea of playing any game ‘just for fun’ is a foreign concept to me.  In the early part of our marriage, my husband and I played quite a few games together. That was before our kids came along and game-time became a luxury (you know what I mean). We played Scrabble, Uno, and Boggle to name just a few. But Scrabble was my nemesis.  I thought I was doing so well, until I found out that the few times I actually ‘won’ had little to do with my skill and everything to do with my husband’s knowledge that if I continuously failed, I would no longer be playing.  Oh, he knew me so well! How I love that man!  rom 715The Bible warns of a daily, hourly, minute by minute battle that goes on between our flesh and our spirit. (Galatians 5:17).  The winner determines our thought process which will drive our decisions, our actions and even our emotions.  The winner of this constant battle will eventually begin to shape our character.  We may become known as ‘nice, good, helpful, kind, generous, loving’.  Or maybe, we may become known as ‘mean, hateful, harsh, stingy, and unpleasant’.  The winner of this battle depends on us! You see we must have a plan in order to be victorious; to do otherwise is not optional.  We won’t even like ourselves, at the end of the day.  Ps 119 11 Consistent action will shape our character.  We will become known by our character. How do we plan then to be victorious in our walk with the Lord? Believe it or not, this battle between our flesh and spirit is the most difficult battle to win.  I would even dare to say that we will fail several times throughout our lifetime.  But every failure becomes an opportunity to do better. The Lord extends grace and mercy and forgiveness every time we concede to our flesh.  The Bible tells us, ‘He is faithful and just to forgive us of all our sins’.  ALL.  EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! He replaces that guilt and shame that comes with our failures with redemption and restoration.   I Jn 1 9But does that truth negate my responsibility to live life abundantly/victoriously as a child of God? Of course not! The price of my salvation was too great a cost to live life carelessly.  I must plan to live life victoriously through my:

  1. Prayer and bible study
  2. Surrender to the will of God
  3. Submission to the authority of God’s Word.  2 Tim 4 7There is work for me to do.  Victory will not come easily, but we’ve been given everything we need to succeed. What are your plans to win?  closing1brenda

    • I’m so sorry 😐 for the delayed reply, your comment went to my spam folder (don’t understand why). We can certainly rely on God’s faithfulness. He reminds us that when we are faithless, He remains faithful. Thanks for commenting

  1. Perseverance and more perseverance. Like you say it’s a minute by minute battle. I do like that we can plan to win, planning helps so much because we can be overwhelmed by decisions in the moment. I try to train my kids that we can plan to say no, or plan to say yes even before we’re in a situation. I’m sorry to here you lost games when the kids came along. Us too. God bless you Brenda, so much encouragement here. I have linked to your blog from my post today. I hope you don’t mind. You inspired me the other day. L

  2. I love your point that consistent action shapes our character. Whether it’s for good or bad, that is so true! Thanks for this conviction! Visiting from #DestinationInspiration. 🙂

  3. I am currently reconnecting with my faith. Throughout my twenties I failed to attend weekly mass and found my discipleship wanting in many aspects. It’s good to see others also reminding themselves of the work we must put in during our walk with the lord.

Psalm 126: 5-6 “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.
    He who goes out weeping,
    carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
    carrying sheaves with him.”
    Have a blessed day! ☺
