When I was a little girl, our family would attend a quarterly gathering of ECWI (Evangelical Churches of the West Indies) members called a Rally. The churches were located around the island, and each “rally” was held at a different venue. At the time, there were only three churches that could comfortably hold a group of close to two hundred people. Of the three, two were in the south of the island and one in the north, where I lived. Most of the time, we would travel to these churches with my ‘uncle’ (my aunt’s husband). One practice my uncle always had that made a life-changing impression on me is the fact, that he always prayed before we left. ALWAYS! Every time, we got into the car, he asked the Lord to guide us on the road, to protect us and see us safely to our destination and back. As a child that habit made such a profound impact on my life, that it is a practice that exist in our household today. Last week we traveled to Taughannock Falls State Park and later that week, we travelled to Florida. Every time, my husband got behind the wheel, we began with prayer.
We know that prayer does not guarantee that our prayers will be answered the way we want. But it does guarantee the knowledge that God is in control, it relieves the mind and reassures that He will truly never leave us, nor forsake us. I love summer-time travels, and I am sure you do too. I encourage you to include the Lord in your travels, that assurance of peace cannot be found anywhere else!
These places are absolutely stunning! They are so different, yet so unique in their beauty. The people in Florida seem to possess an extra bit of kindness, especially on the road and people seem to be so friendly (maybe it’s the heat!). I love Florida so far, and if you’ve never been; I recommend it!
We also stopped in North Carolina on our way, a state filled with such rich history and beauty. The Lord speaks and tells of His love for man in creation’s beauty.
