Hey friends, how are you today? Itās another beautiful day in my neighborhood. The sun is out in all its glory, the skies are blue, the birds, they flitter from tree to tree to play hide and seek.Ā Ā The leaves on the trees each day gradually grow bigger and bigger, soon, we wonāt be able to see through them.Ā Ā Isnāt the cycle of renewal and growth, one of amazing beauty? Our temperature will even rise to a wonderful 70Ā°.Ā Ā Itās a beautiful day today.Ā Ā How are you?Ā
TARDY RESPONSE
Iām sorry for the length of time, it took me to respond to the comments from my last post, I was under the weather.Ā Ā I hate to be sick; the only thing I donāt mind about being ill is the pampering from my family.Ā Ā Anyway, how are you? What did you do last week?Ā
INTERCESSORY PRAYER
Last week in our Sunday school class, we talked about intercessory prayer.Ā Ā It is a fascinating topic, isnāt it? Throughout our lives, at one time or another, we can all say, someone prayed for us.Ā Ā Someone prayed for our salvation, someone prayed for our health, someone prayed for our finances, or our children or our spouse.Ā Ā Do you know, while Jesus was on earth, He too, prayed for us?Ā
JESUS PRAYED FOR US
The first time I read this verse, I was in awe.Ā Ā Jesus didnāt only pray for his disciples and for his friends at the time, He prayed for His future people.Ā Ā Isnāt that amazing? He prayed for you and for me.Ā Ā Wow! The Prince of Peace prayed for me.Ā Ā I could just stay there and bask in the knowledge, that I am so loved and so thought about, that I was prayed for by my Lord, even before I become a figment of my parentsā imagination.Ā Ā Jesus prayed for me.Ā Ā
THE HOLY SPIRIT PRAYS FOR US
Do you know the Spirit of God also prays for us? Yes, He does.Ā Ā He knows we do not know what needs to be said, so He says it perfectly to our God, using their personal word code. Most times when I pray, I asked that circumstances that are needed for my growth to be taken away.Ā Ā I pray the Lord will change other people when I am the one in need of change.Ā Ā I asked for this and that material thing that I may āconsume it on my lustā, except I donāt know so at the time.Ā Ā I go before the Lord with all my needs and wants, the Holy Spirit actually asks the Lord for the āneedsā that I most necessarily need.Ā Ā He does it perfectly every time.Ā Ā He must know something, I donātā¦.
SOMEONE PRAYED FOR US
Then there are the people who have prayed for me throughout my life.Ā Ā My friends and my family and even people I will never know, perhaps we never meet in this lifetime, they all have prayed for me, and still some, even today, perhaps even at this very moment, pray for me.Ā Ā They pray that the Lord will keep me, they pray for my health, they pray to the Lord about my circumstances. They pray for me and my needs.Ā Ā They spend time with the Lord on my behalf.Ā Ā All these prayers go before the Lord for me.Ā Ā They believe I am worth their prayers.Ā Ā They donāt just think about me, they donāt just desire to give me advice or to share their experiences, they donāt just apply their āgood worksā, they go to the Lord and bring my needs to Him for me.Ā Ā Because they know their words matter to the Lord.Ā Ā
WHY DO THEY PRAY FOR US?
And much more, they believe and trust that their God is big enough to listen, loves enough to give, knows enough to understand, faithful enough to forgive, good enough to be gracious and merciful. They believe and trust in the greatness and the power of the Only True God.Ā Ā Ā They know and have seen for themselves His capabilities and so they trust His Word and stand on His promises.Ā Ā
HOW ARE THEY ABLE TO PRAY FOR US?
They can pray for me, because they know their cares and their own problems are in the Hands of their God.Ā Ā They see me because their problems are being handled by our Loving God.Ā Ā Because they are confident that their Great and Mighty God has proven that He can bear the burdens of this whole world, they know that He is more than able to bear my puny burdens too.Ā Ā So, they include me in their daily prayers.Ā Ā
When I was younger, my mom would tell me, if someone enters my mind, pray for them because they are in my mind for a reason, even if I donāt know what that reason may be at the time.
THE GOOD IN PRAYING FOR OTHERS
It is good for us to pray for each other.Ā Ā Here are five reasons why we should pray for others.
- Because the Lord commanded us to pray for others.
- Because praying for others takes the focus away from our own troubles when we āseeā others.
- Because we display our trust in the Lord when we pray for others.
- Because bringing the cares of others before the Lord removes the temptation for me to boast in myself and my āgood worksā.Ā
- Because I am better able to āhelpā after I have received wisdom from the Lord.
BE FAITHFUL TO PRAY FOR OTHERS
Praying for others is a necessary part of our walk with the Lord.Ā Ā It reminds us that though our path with the Lord is an individual one, we are not alone on this path.Ā Ā There are others along the road to heaven. There is you and me and several millions of others in this family of God and we need each other to be successful in this walk with the Lord.Ā Ā We have an enemy whose sole purpose is to derail us, but united we can stand.Ā Ā Lean on me, Iāve made space for you.Ā Ā Lean on me because I am leaning on the Lord.Ā Ā He takes my burdens and renews me with strength, just so that I can be of service to you.Ā
You can lean on me.Ā Ā Why do you pray for others? Who do you pray for? How can I pray for you? How are you really?Ā

Iām learning more and more everyday to lean on God. I think Iāve put so much demand on ā manā which leads to so much disappointment when I should have just been leaning on God. Yes, somebody prayed for us. I believe the greatest form of love from mankind is praying for another even our enemies.

Men and amen. Prayer is love on display. I love that. Our Gods is surely more reliable than man

I love the scripture where you pointed out that Jesus prays for us, and I also love the truth that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us and has just the right words when we may not be able to think of what to say or process clearly.
We are blessed by His graciousness!ā¤ļø

A friend of mine named Jehoshaphat taught me something crucial about praying when someone asks for prayer.
Whether in a supermarket, on a bus or in an office, when asked, āPlease remember to pray forā¦ā
Jehoshaphat would stop before they left, take one of their hands
in his and PRAY! Then and there, without worrying about who might see.
He figured so many asked him for prayer, he might forget one, so he prayed NOW!
I learned this lesson from him and follow his example.

My husband does exactly that, even at times over the phone when he is talking to someone. I think it is a wonderful practice. We benefit when we pray for others

I do the same. I’m so encouraged to read there are others. Thanks for sharing. I actually have had the thought that those that are willing to stop and pray any time, any place, could were a lapel pin or something, so when someone sees that, they can ask for prayer. Kind of like the clergy collar has been a sign, but it would be for lay people.

Hmm, maybe we could wear fish pins? Discrete, but clear for āfishers of men?āš

sorry typo -* wear *, I think the fish symbol alone is too general to Christianity, but maybe that with praying hands or something else. It is on my to do list to start it. Maybe its time to push it to the top of the list. Send prayers and money – lol.

Your mom was very wise in telling you to pray for those who come to your mind. I have been doing that for years. I usually donāt learn why the Spirit urges me to pray, but I pray in obedience and leave the answers to God. I could use prayer right now because I am sick and using my asthma meds again. I really donāt want to get bronchitis/pneumonia again, so please pray that God stops this stuff right where it is. God bless you, Brenda, for your testimony and your good words!

Love this reminder to pray for others. We do all have an individual walk with God but we are not meant to be isolated through it. We reach out and support.

Oh, I just love that! God bless your heart for others, Brenda.āUsing God’s Word, and His inspiration through yours, you remind us of how important we are to each other. God made us so. He is the link between us all, the Support and Guidance and Love.

Thank you, my friend. May our God be glorified. He is certainly our link to each other and a very necessary one because without Him I m inherently selfish.
