UMMM…LET’S SEE WHAT I CAN CONTROL TODAY

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? I am thankful for today. Today indeed matters because today, after a week of being โ€˜under the weatherโ€™ย I am actually pain and congestion free.ย ย An interesting phrase โ€˜under the weatherโ€™, donโ€™t you think? Earlier this week, I realized why I hate being sick.ย ย ย I very rarely admit to feeling sick until I am completely bedridden. I suspect it all goes back to my โ€˜littleโ€™ control issue.ย ย Being sick makes me feel helpless; probably because usually I am. I need help, although most times I donโ€™t mind being pampered. Too often I need to be reminded that I am not in control.ย ย Too often, I have to remind myself that I donโ€™t want to be either.ย ย It is no fun being the โ€˜general managerโ€™ of the universe, too many complainers.ย ย I always fail at that job anyway, too impatient, probably because it isnโ€™t mine.ย ย At times, as we move and live, itโ€™s not hard to forget how very little control, we actually hold.ย ย As a matter of fact, I was reminded while I was โ€˜under the weatherโ€™ย that I only have control over my own actions.ย ย

I decide my choices, my attitudes, my behavior, my character. I decide whether the Word of God will be my standard or whether I will set my own pace.ย ย I do need the Lordโ€™s help to be and do good but as a Christian, I have been given everything I need to be and do good. I just have to decide to do it.ย ย Seeโ€ฆ I do have some control.ย ย It’s called ‘self-control‘. ย Hereโ€™s a little something to brighten your day.ย ย Happy Friday ๐Ÿ™‚

According to more than one test (two actually) I did not have Covid, but I am thankful for today, because I feel so much better today.ย ย How are you? How do you react to being sick?ย

Check me out on Instagram. Letโ€™s continue the conversation over onย Instagram. Follow myย Instagramย and I will follow back, just let me know in the comment section. I would love to meet you ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I’m glad you’re feeling better Brenda. I thank God I am rarely sick, I can’t remember the last time, it’s been years. I do believe following His recipe and prescription in Genesis 1:29 helps, choosing what I put in my body is something I have control over. Proverbs 17:22 is my medicine.

And something important that my mother taught me (long before I watched a news report about this) is to keep your hands off your face in public. It’s surprising how often people touch their nose, rub their eyes etc without realizing it. She also taught us to wash our hands as soon as we come in the house as well as the usual (I’m sure most people know after using the washroom). Shockingly, my husband says many men walk out of the washroom without washing their hands. Well, now this is becoming a lesson on hygiene, but we know this is mentioned in the Bible. God knew about germs and bacteria long before the scientists discovered it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Blessings of health in Jesus’ Name!

  2. Glad youโ€™re feeling better Brenda! I struggle in that โ€œcontrol areaโ€ too but self-control has seemed to be showing up more and more the older I get and closer I am to God!! Praise Him for that!!

  3. My day is brightened! Thank you.
I’m a real baby when I’m sick. I am very rarely sick, so I get pouty. I don’t like being fussed over, but I want confirmation of my ‘poor me’ status.

  4. I’m glad you’re feeling better. I get depressed when I’m sick because I know that no one is going to take care of me, much less do all the jobs that must be done, so when I am sick I just have to keep going. It makes me sad. I pray a lot ! Enjoy your day!

  5. Well said, and beautiful pictures!!

People ask me what I’m doing since I retired, and I say “whatever Peggy says!” ๐Ÿ™‚ Then they say “what other than that?” and I say “Staying out of Peggy’s way!” ๐Ÿ™‚

God is good, and He is Good all the time!!
