SUMMER IN PORTSMOUTH, VA

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? It is an absolutely beautiful day in my neighborhood. The sun is out, the skies are blue, the humidity is low and thankfully the temperature has lowered to mild rather than hot.ย ย I never thought I would be thankful for cooler temperatures, but Lord, thank You for cooler temperatures. It had been so hot lately to the point of being uncomfortable.ย ย But today matters and today is a fabulous day. Itโ€™s also a great day because the God of the universe is in control, in spite of appearances.ย ย

A few weeks ago, we travelled to Portsmouth, Virginia to attend an annual conference with our church. It was just what my soul needed.ย ย But while there I decided on our โ€˜offโ€™ day to explore the city on my own. My husband had gone on a golfing expedition, the girls with their young people and for once I didnโ€™t feel like shopping (quick someone take my temperature!, I made up for that later).ย ย We stayed close to the water, which was near a navel base (not sure the name), but the views were spectacular. Portsmouth has what I think of as an โ€˜old world charmโ€™. Here are a few of photographs I took with my trust camera.

Have you ever been to Portsmouth, VA? What did you do over the summer?

Check me out on Instagram. Letโ€™s continue the conversation over onย Instagram. Follow myย Instagramย and I will follow back, just let me know in the comment section. I would love to meet you ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Thanks for sharing the pics. As one who loves to travel and see other parts of our country, I loved seeing these pictures. We have stayed close to home this summer but our state of Michigan has so many beautiful beaches and forests that we have enjoyed taking one-day road trips.

  2. Been there a couple of times, and thought I’d help you out by identifying the naval base there, but then realized there are BUNCHES of possible ids of the naval station you may have visited. Even after having visited there twice, I did not realize the navy virtually owns the whole town! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
