8 WAYS TO DO LIFE

Hey friends, how are you doing today? The past few weeks have cloudy, dark and overcast in my  neck of the woods.  We’ve seen snow, freezing rain, hail, sleet and just plain old rain and still it remains overcast and dreary.  I miss the sun; I miss the warmth from the sun. Sunshine and blue skies are balm to my soul, the sightings of these make my heart glad. Our ever-optimistic meteorologist tells us sunshine is in our future, but we will see.  I admit though that the thick clouds at this time of the year are a good thing.  Without these clouds, our heat would escape into the great abyss called the skies. The clouds help conserve the warmth, as a matter of fact, our temperatures have been above normal, which is anything above freezing.  Right now, I’m between a rock and a hard place. At this time of the year, we can’t have both, it’s either a little warmth or sunshine and blue skies.

It’s hard to see beauty when here isn’t where I want to be. It’s hard to appreciate the beauty when I can’t see beyond my wants.  It’s hard to be thankful for the beauty around me when life isn’t the way I expected.  We are placed here for a reason, of course the first being to bring God glory.  Here isn’t a mistake, although at times it may feel like it.  Here, maybe for a little while, but still here calls for life to be lived, to be enjoyed,  in spite of the circumstances around us.  Life is more than just mere existence; it’s more than just grit and bear.

The Sacrifice that paid for this life was priceless.    It came at too great a cost for mere existence.  There is beauty all around for us to enjoy.  Look past the waves, see the Creator of the Universe. No one can usurp His authority.  He has all the control, He has orchestrated what comes next for each of us and even more, He controls what happens around us too. The sufferings of this world is only for a little while, and yet even in the sufferings there is joy to be found in the Lord.

  1. My absolute most favorite thing to do daily is to go on prayer walks. I give God praise because I can do that year ’round here in South-Central, Texas.

  2. Great list. For me volunteering at our local nursing home was a blessing but with the Covid can’t do that. So – for now, listening to music, reading, writing notes of encouragement to those who I cannot see in person. And waiting for spring!

  3. Brenda, I like your list, especially do something brave. On the dreary days of January, I find sunshine in volunteering. Prayer and praise songs bring me joy. Keep spreading sunshine. 🌺

  4. I enjoy life much like you. I don’t plan a lot or I should say what little planning I do I hold to loosely never knowing what’s around the corner. I just try to enjoy the day the Lord gives me – most of the time it works out nicely, unless I get grumpy!

  5. Hey, your weather is just like ours: days of misty, foggy, drizzly, thick clouds…! Today I am sheltering at home under a snuggly afghan. I caught a bug, and am enjoying the opportunity to just lay low without being yucky sick, but enough to cancel everything else.
Thank you for a ray of sunshine.

  6. Yup times are indeed heavy, but as the scriptures say: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Doing life with God as my Leader lightens the load for sure.
I am making sure I reach out to people more lately, letting them know I love and care for them..it’s becoming so clear to me these days that love for others and God and faith in Him are what matters most, those are things no one can take away!!! Memorizing scripture is sooo important right now too!!!!!

  7. Hi, Brenda.
Great ideas on how to live for the Lord. Blessings on you, as I pray for you with every blog of yours I read. 🙂
Based on your blog, though, I am surprised you did not include two vital aspects of sharing life with Him, prayer and Bible reading.
“To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” Martin Luther King Jr.
“As Commander-in-Chief, I take pleasure in commending the reading of the Bible to all who serve in the armed forces of the United States. Throughout the centuries, men of many faiths and diverse origins have found in the Sacred Book words of wisdom, counsel and inspiration. It is a foundation of strength… an aid in attaining the highest aspirations of the human soul.” – Franklin Delano Roosevelt

    • 😂🙏🏽🙏🏽thanks for expanding on this post, thank you, when I said ‘share’ in my head I included prayer and Bible reading, but of course one can’t read my mind 😂😂😂thanks for clarifying. God bless you, my friend

  8. Amen! Well said, Brenda! May we always live to bring glory and honor to the Lord! Regarding the weather, I know how you feel. I can’t say I miss the cold and snow in Colorado. The sunny blue skies here in Florida and the warm weather sure are nice. I do miss the beauty of the snow sometimes though. Hoping and praying you can catch some rays of sun soon. If you are ever looking for a nice vacation, the white sand beaches down here are open and beautiful.😊 God bless!
