Three months left in the year! Today is the 3rd of October; we can include it, in the calculation. Wow! We might as well begin preparations for Christmas and the New Year! If you knew your last day on earth would be December 31st, what will you choose to do differently? Will you choose to make the next three months count? If you knew you will be required to give an account for the choices you will make in the next three months, how would you choose to start today? If there is even a 1% chance, that the Bible is true, that there is a heaven and a hell: that both the righteous and the unrighteous will be judged by a Holy and Perfect God, would you be willing to make some changes in your life? (Revelation 20:11-15) Don’t wait; the future brings with it too many insecurities and uncertainties. Come with me on this journey; let us begin again.
Today is a new day. Today is a good day for do-overs. What a blessing it is that we serve a Forgiving, Gracious and Merciful God. He gives us new days to begin again, Lamentations 3:22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. We ask for forgiveness, we ask to be restored, renewed (Hebrews 4:16).
Did you know Robert Robinson was only 22, when he wrote the song, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing?” I am, too often, reminded of this part of the song, written in 1757. Why must history repeat itself?
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
Why is my heart so prone to wonder, Lord? Why am I so insistent on pursuing things that are temporary? Why do I find it so hard to trust You with the people and things that matter to me? I know You are better at protecting and providing for them. Sometimes, I find myself giving them first place in my life. Why do I struggle at totally committing to You? Could it be I am attempting to be holy without You? Forgive me Father, and thank You for new days filled with new mercies and grace.
