Psalms 118:24 declares, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”.
I thank God for the opportunity to see another year. Can you believe it is 2017? I still shake my head at the thought. What are your plans for the New Year? Have you set any goals? Are you going to do anything different?
The term ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ has such a bad rap; but to make a resolution simply means, ‘a firm decision to do or not do something’, according to Goggle’s dictionary. A few years ago, our Sunday school teacher asked the question, ‘a NEW year, or just another year?’ A NEW Year requires that I asses the past year and resolve to change my behavior wherever necessary.
I have claimed a few verses for 2017 that will help me to ‘grow in grace’. They are Proverbs 31:25, 26. I have accepted that this is the standard that the Lord has placed on my life; He wants me to become this woman of integrity, strength, and honor. He desires that I watch my speech, that I be ‘slow to speak’, James 1:19. Yep, definitely need to do that.
Did I tell you, I have a shoe fetish? No? Well! I LIKE shoes… A LOT! I mean, shoes have a story to tell. They can accessorize an entire outfit! They can… but I digress. Okay, here it is, I resolve to buy half the amount of shoes that I bought last year! How many is half? That’s a secret! I can’t give that information. But pray for me.
Remember, a resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. In order to maintain that commitment, I have to do things differently. I have to be intentional in my walk with the Lord. I have to; I MUST be in the Word of God daily. I have to regularly commit my ways to Him. 2016 was a good year, but 2017 can be even better, when I entrust the Lord with my desires, and devote my life to Him.
Happy New Year! Let us make 2017 a great year, as we walk with the Lord.
