She seeks wool and flax and works with willing hands. She seeks and works; these are the verbs used in this verse. She seeks, she works and she does both willingly. Her attitude is one of cheerfulness… she is one who sings while she works. Colossians 3:23 reminds us that whatever we do, we need to do it heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men. She is able to seek and work willingly, because her eyes are not on her circumstances, her eyes are not on her environment, her eyes are not even on the things her husband or children are doing or not doing. She is able to seek and work willingly because she knows her reward is from the Lord. For us, this is not always possible. As women, we can be easily distracted by everything going on around us. But again, I Corinthians 10:13 says the Lord will NOT give you too much to bear, even though at times it may feel lik
e it. Jesus says in Matthew 11:29, 30; ‘…my yoke is easy, my burden is light’. Let us also be realistic and not overwhelm ourselves with doing. Sometimes, we add to our burdens because we are doing someone else’s work. Yes, I find it difficult to ‘stay in my lane’, because things have to be done my way. The Lord has given
us our work, while we are here. May we do it well! The attitude with which we perform our ‘work’ will be tested and tried, although one should not wait for a good attitude, in order to obey. Seek the Lord daily while we go about the everyday and sometime, mundane activities, He has called for us to perform, and He will direct our path Proverbs 3:5, 6. Let us begin again…
