Proverbs 31:11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.
The heart of her husband…. The heart belonging to her husband… Almost as if he has no choice in the matter…his heart has made the choice…his heart has chosen to trust her. The Strongs Concordance says this of the heart; ‘used (figuratively) very widely for the feelings, the will and even the intellect; likewise for the centre of anything’. Technically, he has made the choice to trust her, because he has nothing to lose. By trusting her, he stands to gain everything. She ensures that he has everything to gain by trusting her. It is kind of surprising, well maybe not so surprising that the Lord has chosen to describe the virtuous woman, by beginning with her husband. Immediately following the worth of a virtuous woman, comes the heart of her husband. Perchance it is because as wives, our first allegiance belongs to the Lord, but always after that should come our husbands. This verse also tells us that we are responsible for the trust our husband places in us. Take a minute to think about that. You are responsible for your husband’s trust. Of course he would trust her, she is a virtuous woman. She is a woman of ‘high moral standards.’ Here are some questions we need to ask ourselves and pray the Holy Spirit reveals the answers to us. Is my word my bond? Can I be counted on to do what I say I will do? When I make a commitment do I follow through with that commitment? Am I trustworthy? Have I been known to lose control, nag, or do I maintain self control? Perhaps the most noteworthy question is who controls me? Is the answer, me? My environment? Or the Spirit of God? We serve an awesome God. He readily extends forgiveness and grace. We can begin again as we bask in the sweet mercy of a Holy God. In order to be trustworthy, we have to trust the Lord first. We have to trust that He is working it (everything) out for our good. This is very difficult for those of us with control issues. Those of us who need to see the plan or need to plan every single detail… And again we serve an awesome God.

Amen. Good reminder that God is in control. When things seem to be out of control in our lives He is there.
Thanks for the reminder.
