CHOOSING JOY TODAY

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? Winter has settled in my neck of the woods.   She is here to stay.   Our temperature has not risen beyond 25° all week.   Snow and cold (as in freezing) have been the norm lately. Some days I want the beach and 90°.  But that’s not my story, so….

Today will be a delightful, dazzling day. It’s not because I can determine the incidents of the day. Rather, I will choose to trust in the will of the God. He not only created the day but also directs the incidents of that day.  In His Word, I’ve been told, I can find rest, comfort, and peace for my soul.   The God of the Universe told me, He will never ‘leave me nor forsake me’.

He said, ‘even before the formation of the world, He knew me and my innermost being’.  He told me He loved me. Whether I choose to believe it or not is up to me. Today, I choose to believe it.  Today, I choose to be confident and certain. I choose to be courageous in what I know to be true. I know He ‘holds me in the palm of His Hand’.

Today, let us choose to see the beauty in a smile. Take note of a kind word. Appreciate a friendly wave. Enjoy an encouraging visit. Treasure a giving hand. Today will be a good day. I choose to change my approach. I choose to say, ‘not my will but Thine be done’.

Some days I allow my feelings to dictate my day. But though today began with below zero temperature, I choose to have a thankful day. What are you thankful for today?

  2. What a beautiful, steady reminder. I love how you anchor the day not in circumstances—cold, snow, or shifting feelings—but in the unchanging character of God. That choice to trust His will, even when it doesn’t look like the “beach and 90°,” is such a quiet but powerful act of faith.

Your words echo that deep assurance Scripture gives us: that we are known, held, and never forsaken, long before the day even begins. And I really appreciate how you bring it down to the small, holy moments—a smile, a kind word, a giving hand—where gratitude actually lives.

Thank you for the gentle invitation to choose trust over feelings and thankfulness over temperature. Today, I’m thankful for reminders like this that reorient the heart back to truth.

  3. I love all the peaceful beautiful pictures! Thank you for the reminder to choose joy. We always have a choice to view circumstances from God’s perspective and we can ask him to help us do that. It’s only 20 degrees here in Virginia today. 🥶
