THAT FICKLE LOVE

Hey friends, how are you? How was your week? How is your today? My today has begun with just a spot of rain this morning. Although the clouds valiantly tried to keep its place as they blanketed the skies, the sun, all too soon, won the battle.

The clouds have surrendered, though not completely, the blue skies are back in showcasing the sun in all its beauty (or is the bright, beautiful sun showcasing the blue skies?).  Anyway, it’s another beautiful day in my neighborhood, with temperatures reaching almost 60°.  Its February and some were golfing yesterday, and I’m sure more will be on the golf course today.  Can you believe it?

As I sit near the window, enjoying the antics of the squirrels, it occurred to me that I no longer have to vie for my space with Jazz (our furry baby).  She has found a new love, I’m no longer her favorite.  Since Anna graduated from college, she has been attached to her.  All her affections have been transferred to her new friend.

She is so spoilt!

Fickle Affection!

I thought she was mature enough to share her fond feelings, but apparently apart from herself, she only has enough for one another person at a time.

When we were friends…

I’ve thought about removing her food and litter from my grocery list, but I’ve decided to be the more mature person in this relationship.  I even thought of replacing her with perhaps a lap dog, but again my maturity won out.

Jazz, when we first got her. A cutie, right?

Surely, she can love more than one person?

I should probably explain to her that affections shouldn’t be transferred, but rather she should welcome the opportunity to love without discrimination, but I don’t think her attention span is that long.

I thought she was adorable at the time…

I should also tell her that when she puts her love on display, some possible side benefits would include more cuddles and massages but again I’m afraid she may turn her back on me.

It’s her loss…

I will show her then that because of the undeniable, unwavering, unconditional, uncompromising love of my God, I can choose to love her even though she does not love me anymore. Do you have pets? Are you, their favorite? How are you today?

  1. I do have a cat who prefers me, but when I stayed with my son for four months one year and three months the next to do childcare for his toddler, Daisy ignored me for a few weeks when I came home. She seemed to be miffed with me.

  2. Yeah we have had to turn the A/C back on already. * sigh * the electric company once again will dig into our pockets…

We currently have two dogs(Betty the Pitbull & Penelope the Pitbull/Lab mix) and two cats(Annie and Angel sister and brother from the same litter, they are Turkish Van alikes)

    We’ve had:
for dogs – a boxer/bulldog (Uga), A boxer (Riley), two Boston terriers (Mammy & Ruby), A Pitbull (Cotton), A Pitbull (Holly)
for cats – a tabby (Mitzy) she was polydactyl hence the name from mittens
for reptiles – leopard geckos(no names that I remember, we bred & sold them), an iguana(Mango), up to 17 snakes at one time, I’ll spare you all their names
for fish – several goldfish(no names?), two betas (Mr Bubbles & Pearl- which is the current beta)
for hermit crabs – one or two, names? not sure, they were our son’s, his at the time girlfriend let him extended time baby sit her bearded dragon also(so technically that should be part of the reptile list, but hey, what ever – lol.)

I want to have a boxer again someday and/or another non-yappy lap dog, our daughter wants a kitten, we are holding off on that too – lol. With all those animals and having four children, our house was quite the revolving zoo for a while – lol.

Anyway, way more info than you expected probably – lol. But you asked……lol.😜🫢

  3. Aw, I pray Jazz comes back to your lap again.

God blessed out trip to see my mom and sister! We prayed He would clear the way for safe travel and HE DID! So much! We even got a tail wind on the way home. I’m so grateful for God’s blessings.

Another blessing, although kinda weird: we saw two robins in our front yard this morning. And there were ‘lotsa flocksa’ geese on our way across the state, flying north. Seems ‘way too early for this springtime stuff. I can’t help but wonder what it portends.
