FRIGID FRIDAY

Hey friends, how are you today? It is freezing in our neck of the woods.  I mean it has been cold, hats, gloves, boots and socks and heavy coats have all been a necessity. Today can literally be called Frigid Friday.  This entire week our weather has not left the 20°s at all, and any wind makes it feel like the single digits or in the minus.  Today’s high temperature is 24° and tomorrow we do not leave the teens, with a high of a mere 17°.  Can we say Shivering Saturday anyone? What’s the temperature like in your neck of the woods?

I’ve said it before, so most of you should already know, I was born and grew up in the Caribbean.  Snow was an unfamiliar precipitation. When we sang the well-known hymn, ‘Whiter than Snow’ I had no point of reference.  But now, more than twenty years later, I can certainly see the correlation.

Do you wander why we wear sunglasses in the winter? Although it can be a fashion statement, it is necessary. The reflection of the sun’s rays on the very, very white snow is almost blinding.

Such beauty is displayed, such grace is given, such mercy is bestowed when our God forgives. The God of Heaven, the Creator of the Universe offers a wonder, a privilege in forgiveness.  Under the snow still lies the ground but when our God extends His forgiveness, there remains no trace of our sin.  He is bigger, greater, mightier, more powerful than anything we have done, any wrong we’ve committed.  Now all that is left is for us to accept this gift.

Will you accept His forgiveness?

  1. Its very cold here, but not as cold as where you are at. There’s a very good reason I don’t live anywhere in the top 2/3 of the U S of A – lol. I miss sunny So Cal, I don’t remember it ever getting down in the 30’s where we lived. Did we ever have to drip our pipes? I don’t remember my parents ever talking about doing that. Do I just not remember? I will have to call my mother and see if I can get my questions answered. lol. Wait, I do remember having ice on the windshields, right? I think I have over fifty syndrome. Too much stuff to try and remember from when I was a kid. * sigh * * shakes head *

  2. Beautiful snowy photos. Our temp is 13 today with a windchill of negative 2. It was negative 6 earlier with the windchill. It is supposed to go up to 25 tomorrow. Whoot! Heatwave! Next week the temps will be in the 30s and I can’t believe I am saying that I can’t wait for that!

  3. Beautiful photos of the snow! I always think of how white God washes us when I see pristine snow. We only got a few inches and it’s gone already, but it’s still cold here in central VA.

  4. 3 below this morning, climbing our way to 5 degrees today. 23 below tonight, with -35 to -40 wind chills. This past week, wind chills got to -70 in good ol’ South Dakota. I’m very grateful for a warm, cozy home. And grateful that my husband used to live in Alaska, and learned maintenance and safety for frigid conditions.
