Hey friends, how are you today? Summer is almost at an end in my neck of the woods, milder temperatures have made their presence. The cicadas, which is summer in a bug, once hidden in the trees, are at present, tasty morsels for the birds. The days are noticeably shorter than they were even last week. While others in other parts of the country complain about the heat, here in Upstate NY, we dare not leave the house without a light jacket, especially when the sun goes down and takes with it, any lingering source of heat. Autumn with its much ‘colder’ temperature is knocking at our door and I’m not ready for it. What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? Hot? Mild? Cold?

This summer has seemingly gone by in a flash. I sat at our kitchen window, this morning, as I usually do and looked out to our backyard. Jazz (our cat) was vying with me for space, as she usually does; she pretends that she is the master of all she surveys to the stray cats, perhaps even willing them to pay her toll, as one at a time (never together) they cross our yard. Do you remember her, this small kitten that hardly took up any space in a picture frame?

This summer has brought many firsts to me, all has been good and profitable for me, but admittedly, if given the choice at the time, I’d probably not have chosen it. I’ve had to remind myself that nothing takes the Lord by surprise. There is nothing for Him to learn and nothing sneaks up on Him. If He allows it, it’s for my good if He does it, it’s for my good. I can choose to be passive with this previous statement or to actively trust absolutely in the love of God.

This life as a Christian never calls for passivity even as we wait, there is always room to grow. This active growth is realized as I trust in God’s love and respond to that love through my obedience to His Word. I have so much to share with you, but we have time. Enjoy today because it’s all we’ve been given. Here is a look at my today as Anna and I went on our morning walk/run.

How are you? How is your day?

I couldn’t agree more that nothing takes God by surprise! Which I love, because I’m often surprised and remembering that He knows, He has a plan, He sees it all brings me such comfort. Loved your pictures! To answer your question we are sweltering in a heat wave, over 100 today, but it’s supposed to cool down to the 80s by the weekend. Even in this God is faithful. He gave us AC just a few days before the heat came. Blessings to you my friend!

When I sit outside, I feel like I’m in the jungle. Where are all the tall vine laden trees and the monkeys – LOL

We are enjoying a brief taste of fall where I live with high temps in the mid 70s, but reality will hit this week as we return to the 90s.
I think you have visions of playing in the snow as your excitement of winter approaching comes to mind 🙂

Lex still has some summer left; hitting in the 90s still for some of our highs… but at least not like my brother’s report from Phoenix where most of July the LOWS were over 90!
Still have a few months of growing time left in our little 4×4 garden and two big pots, so hopefully we’ll get some carrots and more spinach and beets before things turn chilly!

Wow 😯 fall temperatures are certainly making itself felt a bit earlier than normal n our neck of the woods, which probably signals that winter will be here too soon. 🥶🥶 but with these temperatures you’ve just mentioned, I think I will be thankful for my temperatures after all 😇😇 stay cool 😎 God bless you

Love hearing about life in your corner of the world, Brenda! The cicadas are still with us in southwestern Ohio and summer flowers will still bloom a while longer. The best part of August, I suppose, is the abundance of fresh produce to enjoy. We’re blessed to have a local farm truck park at a nearby nursery, providing fresh sweet corn, tomatoes, squash, peaches, and more each day. Praise God for the bounty of flavors, textures, and colors he’s provided for us to enjoy!

The pictures are beautiful. I especially loved the clouds. Thanks for sharing. We are starting to get milder temps here in Michigan also. Still have the long days but I know soon they will get shorter. I love fall bu I must admit I dread seeing winter come. But for now, I will enjoy what is left of this beautiful summer.

I absolutely join you in desiring to keep winter at a distance. Like you I do enjoy fall, but because it hardly sticks around, too soon winter makes its presence felt 😂😂 but everything comes when our Lord says and not a minute before. In the mean time we will enjoy the wonderful days our Lord gives us

Those are great pictures…. SNAKE!!!! I hope you were using a looonnnngg zoom lens! 🙂
Seriously, I have a hard time understanding how people can look at Creation and not recognize the Master Builder! And oh, the understanding and knowledge we will gain at Jesus’ return is unfathomable compared to what science and technology knows today. Maranatha!

😂😂I was using my ‘phone. But because it was still early in the morning, and a bit chilly, it moved slowly. Amen and amen 🙏🏽 our God is great and that greatness is displayed throughout His creation. Be blessed my friend

Greetings! Fall is in their in the Far North. We also have many wildfires burning around us making the air unhealthy. There have been thunder storms and the lightening strikes that start more fires. We will see the ground cover change colors soon, Snow often stays on the ground from September to May.

Praying for you, my friend. I’ve heard about the fires and the devastation it has been causing. Fall will be here soon and I will be thankful for it. Although it feels like fall already 😂😂 God bless you, my friend
