The month of December is a great time to reflect on the past eleven months. This year has gone by so quickly. Time has simply flown! Sometimes, because of the busyness in our days, remembering the events of just last month is impossible. But with our heads down, moving from one event or activity to the next, the year will end and when we look back, how will we rate the year? Now is a good time to stop and consider the past few months. Are you becoming the person that God intended for you?
Reflecting on the past has several benefits: you can count your blessings, you learn from your past, you understand what works and what should be cut off, perhaps you get to know you a little more (scary, isn’t it?), and maybe realize that you cannot depend nor rely on your own understanding. It is even conceivable that you learned to trust the Lord more. Look back on the past year. Perhaps you’ve grown in your walk with the Lord and that’s great! Keep at it!
Reflecting on the past eleven months allows you to see the patterns, to review the goals that were accomplished and those that did not even get a start. The month of December means that the year isn’t done, there is still time. Time to start implementing the changes you want to make in your life. Take the time to start doing better, because you can do better. Take time to make your devotions more meaningful. Perhaps just take the time to take better care of yourself. Maybe you need to start spending more time with others. It could be that you need to pray more, pray for yourself, pray for family, others. Count your blessings now.

Ponder on the past eleven months and start today, making the changes you want to see in your life. Don’t wait for the New Year, more than likely, if you do not start today, there will be nothing different in the New Year. Trust the Lord to make your path straight and believe that because He knows you, He will always do what’s best for you.
