She is a mother – a woman in relation to a child or children to whom she has given birth.  She mothers “the art of mothering” – bring up (a child) with care and affection. (Google internet dictionary).

The responsibility to nurture Christ-like virtues in a child is one God has called all women to perform. Older women have been called to teach younger women in Titus 2:3-5.  The Lord called older to train younger woman. Likewise younger women are to carry out their mandate by instilling godly character in children (Deuteronomy 6:7).  Although a few of these verses were written to all saints, as ‘mothers’ we have been called to impart knowledge of the Word of God, to teach obedience to the Word, to instill trust and faith in the Lord to our children.   Let us, mothers, unconditionally and unwaveringly love, (John 15:12) carefully and gently discipline, (Proverbs 22:6) wisely and economically provide, ( Proverbs 31:15; Proverbs 31:21) sincerely and truthfully encourage, (Hebrews 10:24) diligently and thoroughly teach, (2 Timothy 2:24), prudently and meticulously observe, (Proverbs 31:27.) humbly and earnestly exemplify (1 Timothy 4:12).  HAPPY MOTHERS’ DAY!
