WAS IT TRULY GOOD?

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? It has been a gloomy, glum, and grey kind of week.  Dark clouds have been our canopy for the past few days.  Flash floods are our cautionary tale.  But today is a good day.  Without today over 2000 years ago, where would I be? What would be my life?

Today is Good Friday, that’s what we call it now, Good Friday.  I can’t even imagine my life without the sacrifice of the cross.  Fully God yet Fully Man.  I can’t think it was a Good Friday for You, Lord.  Not for You.

As God, You would know what they were going to do to You.  You must have known about the agony and the shame, You would endure.  As God, All-seeing and All knowing, You would have been aware that even Your friends would not stand with You.   As God, You knew Your friend would deny Your friendship.  You would walk the road on Your own.  As God, You would understand the pain, this body of Yours would suffer. You agreed with Your Father to pay a debt that never belonged to You. You would have seen the jeering and the animosity of the crowd.  You are God, yet You took the form of a servant Man so that I can spend eternity with You.  You went to the cross in my place.  At what point will I be worthy of such sacrifice?  As God, You knew before hand what my salvation would cost You.  Yet You did it anyway.

As Man, You willingly bore the pain of betrayal of a friend, and You saw me.  The same people You healed, they called for Your death, still You saw me…  You bore the weight of the cross with eyes that saw me.  They mocked You and spat on You and You saw me.  You allowed them to put nails into Your hands and feet and still You saw me.  They pierced Your side and You saw me.  Even when You closed Your eyes in death, You saw me.

You saw my frailty.  You saw my propensity for sin. Though I was once Your enemy, You knew this was the only way for my redemption.  You saw me.

And now I say, Thank you, Lord, thank you. Thank You for the cross.  But that’s not the end of the story.

Our Lord Jesus loved us so completely that He sacrificed His life for us.  He became our Great Intercessor.  He stood between us and the Holy and Righteous God. He died but He rose again! Even now, we are told He is preparing a place for us.  Hallelujah, what a Savior!

What are you thankful for today?
