BREATHE IN… BREATHE OUT

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? It’s another beautiful day in my neck of the woods.   Although the clouds have completely blanketed the skies, leaving not even the tiniest hint of the blue skies, it’s a good day.  I love days like these because it’s feels like the quiet is quieter.  Seemingly even the birds are quiet, broken only by the calls of the occasional crow.  Perhaps today appears to be quiet because yesterday was so loud and raucous, with the fireworks and loud music and people, people, people, everywhere.

Days like these are wonderful because they remind me to keep my eyes on the Lord, because only when my eyes are fixed on Him can I not be overwhelmed. Only with Him can my eyes see the beauty each day brings with it.  Only in His presence can He remind that the people, people, people are His treasure, and they matter to Him. And there are days when I need that reminder, so I thank the Lord for days like these; cloudy, with not a hint of sunshine but also with not a hint of rain.

Yet still, He brings color to our soul with the beauty of His creation.

Beauty can be found, even among the ashes of our lives. Because we serve the Risen King. He transforms our lives into one that loves genuinely because we know LOVE. Flowers have always been one of my favorite things to receive for any occasion.

What brings beauty to your soul? I know, I know, I know… the Word of God and His Presence. But what else? What reminds you that life will be okay? What do you do to remind You that God is always good?

  1. Love the flower photos, Brenda. Flowers are gifts of summer that never grow old! We just returned from visiting Washington State where we toured a flower garden, mostly roses and dahlias. One of the latter–a cream-and-peach variety–was as big as a salad plate! But it’s the snow-peaked, awe-inspiring Mount Rainier that spoke to my spirit most of all. The Maker of Mountains is even more immense, more solid, and more indestructible than that highest peak of the lower 48! We are in good hands.

  2. God’s creation brings beauty to my soul: sunrises and sunsets, ocean views, breathing in fresh mountain air, hiking along trails, watching the rain…

  3. The photos of the flowers are great! Thanks for sharing. For me, the day is perfect when I open my patio door and hear the cardinal that lives in the tree in our back yard singing away! He will sit and sing for 15–20 minutes several times throughout the day. I believe he is praising God!
