Hey friends, how are you today? Just today, how are you? Can you believe we are unofficially done with ten months from our 2023 calendar? Ten months! November is right around the corner! What happened to the past months? Did they have an appointment to keep? They flew right past. Now we are counting down to the end of the year; 2024 is right around the corner if the Lord tarries. Before we make plans for 2024 however, let’s not cancel 2023 just yet. Isn’t it funny how we always seem to remember the bad occurrences in our lives? As you look back on the past few months, what comes to mind? The good, the bad or the ugly?

We’ve been told that we humans have the tendency to remember the extreme highs and the extreme lows points of our lives. From my past experiences, I concur, but I would also qualify by saying I do have the tendency to recall more of the bad experiences. My ungrateful heart!

No life is free of disappointments, unfortunately no one leaves this world unscathed. We all will endure grief and pain at many points in our lives. Regrettably, we are not promised, even as Christians, that this life will be perfect; that all will go as we planned.

But should an entire year be cancelled because of disappointments? If that’s the case, every year will be cancelled, because every year brings with it a new set of disappointments. Sorry to the young‘uns reading this post, most of us, older folks have acquired a bit of experience throughout the years, which usually transform into wisdom.

When I was little girl, I was quite fascinated by pens that came with an eraser. What an ingenious idea, whoever came up with it. I guess I could find out, I’m sure Goggle would know, but that’s irrelevant information, if you want to know, you know what to do. But having the option to erase my work, after writing with a pen, rather than crossing it out, or starting all over, depending on the teacher’s desires, was very satisfying. I loved it and the only pen I wanted for school was one that came with an eraser, because undoubtedly, I would make a mistake in my writing. Even better is Word correcting my spelling mistakes, that are still in my head, not yet even on the iPad. Thank You Lord, for blessing man with this wisdom.

Isn’t it wonderful that our Perfect, Holy, and Righteous God gives us great do-over opportunities? I love new days because it’s a do-over day. It’s an opportunity for new grace and mercy. It’s a new day filled with moments for me to repent and seek forgiveness. I can assure you; I will need it.

Forgiveness is an eraser that never comes to an end, as long as there is life in this body. The Lord’s forgiveness just keeps giving when I sincerely seek it. He certainly forgives freely, because my debt has been paid through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. According to His Word and unlike the pen’s eraser, there is no record of wrong against me. He washes me whiter than snow and let me tell you, as someone who lives in a snow belt, snow can be blindingly white.

Forgiveness – to let go of an offense against another. And that’s I’ve done, that’s exactly what I still do; I offend the Lord with my sin. When I sin, I desecrate His Name; I violate His commands. When I repent, the blood of His Son wipes it all away. I am clean. (Natalie Grant has a song by this name) Yep! Gimme that God (another good song by Kirk Franklin).

Almost ten months have gone by, my friends, we can stay where we are, accepting whatever life chooses to throw our way, or we can choose to live the abundant life, we are promised in the Lord.

Forgiveness redeems, restores and renews us. Have you repented today? How are you today? What is one thing you can recall of the past few months?

This has been a good year. Keeping a focus on what the Lord is doing helps to keep the good in the forefront. I was amazed when caring for my mom when she had dementia. Her memories of years passed, never included any of the bad stuff, just the good.

What a blessing that your mom remembered only the good. Praise the Lord! I think it is the best thing for our lives is to be thankful.

It is comforting and encouraging to know that God says he will remember our sins no more and in Hebrews 6:10 that he is faithful to remember the love we have shown him by showing it to others

Interesting thing about the human brain is that emotions affect our rate of learning. Fastest learning is with the emotion of fear. It is called “Fear Based Learning.” That is part of why one traumatic event can leave people with PTSD. The memories are deeply ingrained. So, good news is, it is not always an ungrateful heart that influences what we remember the most. On the flip side, God definitely heals emotions, and the intentional practice of regular thankfulness can rewire the brain. Paul was literally talking about neuroplasticity in Romans 12 when he said that we should be transformed by the renewal of our minds! I find this stuff fascinating! 😀

He has called us to be holy and He has given us everything we need to live godly lives, including His Holy Spirit who willingly renews and redeems and restores 😅. He is faithful and good

Time is flying by but it’s also been a very stressful year so far , with some good times mixed in, praise God. I’m not a fan of this season of life. But I’m trusting that God will help me adjust to the changes . Lots to be thankful for , but especially that my marriage has improved . I’m thankful for mercy and grace ! Great post , my friend.

This season of life has certainly been difficult, especially as I go through menopause 😃 but our God remains faithful even when I falter

Yep, I remember the pens with erasers. Had them in my binder.
Hmmm – menopause….crazy times…my husband always liked it cold, and I would get cold easily. Then he got his hip replaced and the metal in his body would make him cold (others with implants have concurred). He started to use an electric blanket at night which would heat up the water in our water bed. Then I started the heat flashes stages of the peri-menopause process. OMGosh, I couldn’t sleep, I would toss and turn. I was sleeping in a tank top and underwear only with just a sheet over me. I eventually just moved to the living room.
The PMSing got worse and more feminine products needed to be used if you know what I mean. Just letting you know, I know. We heard ladies talk about it growing up, but not until you have experienced it….wow, right? So be encouraged, this too shall pass. But it can be a ten to fifteen year process until the final end. So, hang in there.
Hugs and Prayers, Susan

10-15 years!! Oh please pray for the family first, I think they will need more grace 😃😃 thank you for preparing me, there is still so little information about this topic except what we’ve been told by others. May the Lord show us grace and mercy

I chose not to do any hormone treatments, some women swear by them, so you will have to decide for yourself on that. I have no info on cost and effectiveness. I’m sure your doctor would want you to use them, but of course the docs get kickbacks, so yeah any added meds or treatments put more money in their pockets. I will pray you get the info you need to make an educated decision and do what’s best for your body and family. Keep us posted so we can pray for you. More Hugs.
