YOU SAW ME

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? Today is Good Friday, that’s what we call it now, Good Friday.  I can’t even imagine my life without the sacrifice of the cross.  Fully God yet Fully Man.  I can’t think it was a Good Friday for You, Lord.  Not for You.  As God, You would know what they were going to do to You.  You must have known about the agony and the shame, You would endure.  As God, All-seeing and All knowing, You would have been aware that even Your friends would not stand with You, You would walk the road on Your own.  As God, You would understand the pain, this body of Yours would suffer.  As God, You would be for the first time in history separated from Your Father to pay a debt that never belonged to You,

That debt belonged to me, but You saw me. You would have heard the jeering and the animosity of the crowd.  You are God, yet You took the form of a servant Man so that I can spend eternity with You.  You went to the cross in my place.  At what point will I be worthy of such sacrifice? As God, You knew Your friend would deny Your friendship.  As God, You knew before hand what my salvation would cost You.  But You saw me.

As the Man, You willingly bore the pain of betrayal of a friend, and You saw me.  The same people You healed, then called for Your death, still You saw me…  You bore the weight of the cross with eyes that saw me.  They mocked You and spat on You and You saw me.  You allowed them to put nails into Your hands and feet and still You saw me.  They pierced Your side and You saw me.  Even when You closed Your eyes in death, You saw me.

You saw my frailty.  You saw my propensity for sin. Though I was Your enemy at the time, You knew this was the only way for my redemption.  You saw me, Lord, You saw me.

And now I say, Thank you, Lord, thank you. May my life be worthy of such sacrifice. He paid a debt He did not owe, I owed a debt, I could not pay…

  1. I was just thinking of this this morning while driving. How we are celebrating, but all those years ago His friends and followers were all lost and mourning. I am so thankful He chose to go through that so that we could be reconciled to Him.

  2. As painful and filled with agony as this day was for our Lord—as horrible a day as it was for Him—it would work for his good and ours. His because his work was done and soon He would rejoin His Father; Ours because our sins were paid for in full so when Jesus’ life won against death—our death was also swallowed up in victory. It was a sad but good day that turned into a day of rejoicing for our Lord and us.

  3. “Thank you, Lord, thank you. May my life be worthy of such sacrifice. He paid a debt He did not owe, I owed a debt, I could not pay…” We are justified by His death, and by His LIFE (resurrection) we live and have our being…Romans 5:10 Hallelujah!!
