IT’S A GOOD DAY

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? Today is a dark, dreary, dull and damp day in my neck of the woods. And it’s cold, The meteorologist even called for snow in the higher elevations.  The squirrels have taken shelter among the trees, but the birds seem to take pleasure in this day.  Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that their food becomes a bit easier to acquire.  In spite of the kind of weather we experience, someone or something will benefit. It’s always for our good.

Usually when I write in my journal, I thank the Lord for a new day, but this time, I decided instead to begin with thanks for life.  Both are good things to be thankful for, but it occurred to me that I hesitated to be thankful for this day because of the weather.  My mood quickly become a reflection of the weather and gratefulness was far from me.  But as I wrote, I realized I was ready to give up on the entire day because of the weather; talk about throwing the baby with the bath water’ (who came up with this saying anyway? It’s terrible!)

Anyway, as I was saying, our God remains faithful.  He reminded me that it’s barely 7:00 in the morning and here I am already at the end of the day.  Life has yet to be lived on this day and I’ve allowed the weather to dictate whether or not I will have a good day.  Thankfully, the Lord remains faithful. Today is a good day because the Lord is faithful, and the Lord is good.

On my recent walk I came across some art work in my neighbourhood.

If you missed Tuesday’s post, LIFE HAS RETURNED, check it out before you leave. How are you doing today?

  1. Love the art pictures. Like you, I was so disappointed at the weather here. So ready for warm sunny days. But you are right – we cannot let the weather dictate our joy. Thankfully today – it is sunny again here in Michigan. Hope you also have a sunny day!

  2. Isn’t it wonderful to be able to be thankful, even for those days we prefer not to be around? As for the sayin “don’t throw out the baby with the bath water.” That comes from the frontier days when the whole family would bathe in the same water, beginning with the father, then the sons, eldest to youngest, then the females, mother last, and finally the baby. By the time the baby was bathed, the water would be filthy from the previously 8 or 9 baths that the baby could not be seen if under the water. Are we thankful for running water and showers today!

  3. Ah, we are fickle, allowing so many things to determine our attitudes and feelings.
God is so stable! I praise Him because He is my Rock! We can just run to Him any time.
    Cool art! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Cool stuff to look at when you’re out and about! Did you run today? I ran in loops at the local park. I saw this amazing black and white bird with a red head. Not a woodpecker. I’ve never seen one like this!

  5. Fun pics!!

talk about throwing the baby with the bath water’ (who came up with this saying anyway? It’s terrible!)😂😂😂😂😂
I get exactly what you’re talking about because often times all whine around when the day is dark and dreary …but I’ve recently tried to think about the fact that I’m actually quite a homebody so I really have nothing to complain about plus I can make pleasant memories indoors with my family just as easily as if we were outside… I need to get better about keeping this mindset though!!

  6. Thank you for the gentle attitude adjustment as I embark on what has the potential to be a difficult day. As I read your post, I was reminded of the truth that our biggest difficulties are also the best opportunities to see God at work. Instead of dreading what this day may hold, I should be diving into it with anticipation to see what God is going to show and teach me. ❤

  7. We do carry our own weather with us wherever we go. We get to decide whether the clouds or the air pressure are going to lift us up or get us down. I am learning not to let the snow kill my spring joy. It is a work but I know I will win, because my God has already cleared the way for me to enter joy.
