LIFE HAS RETURNED

Hey friends, how are you today? How has been your week so far? First, I would like to say, ‘thank you’.  Thank you for your prayers and your encouragement throughout this time of bereavement.  You stood in the gap for me, and I appreciated this more than you can know. You took the time to remember me, and my family and we are very grateful. Thank you for your understanding, some of you have been there too, thank you for showing us compassion and sympathy.  Your prayers helped to align my view and remind me of the goodness and greatness of our God.

As I sit at my kitchen window, sharing my space with Jazz our very fluffy and lazy pet, I think I blinked.  It seems to me that I have misplaced time.  I don’t know how or when I actually lost her; time that is, but I think I have lost time somewhere along the way.  It’s easy to lose time, I think.  It’s insidious and slow, it’s gradual, it’s over a period of time. Yes, it does appear to me, that I have lost time, somewhere along the way.

I looked outside my window today and suddenly all the trees in my backyard have very visible leaves on their branches. Houses are once again being obscured and almost invisible by the leaves on the trees.  When did this happen? I look in the distance and instead of my scary trees, all I see is greenery.  When did new life begin? How did I miss this? Where were my eyes? I blinked; I think.

New life is taking place all around me.  The birds prepare their nests on spaces that once appeared dead, life has returned to the neighborhood with the sounds of kids laughter and shouts as their restore friendships.  Huh! Where was I at the beginning of this new life?

My head was down, I think and with my head down, it was difficult for my eyes to find purchase on the Restorer of life.  For a minute there, I lost time. For a minute there, time passed me by, but thankfully this time, it was just for a minute. Nature has brought new life to my neck of the woods, and I want to be part of it.  Life has returned and I don’t want to miss it, this time.  So, I will look up now; today I will look up to the Author and Finisher of my faith.  Today, I will fix my eyes on my Lord.  Today, I will be intentional.  Today, my feelings will align with my beliefs and my beliefs will line up with my behaviors and my actions will tell that story.  Today life has returned.

  2. I love love love this post because I’ve been trying to be very intentional of observing my backyard this year…I’ve noticed more birds chirping recently and our lilac bushes are becoming greener by the day…the fruit trees are still looking lifeless though. Like you, I don’t want to miss these beautiful blessings..I want to be aware and thankful!! Just like with my relationship with Him!!

  3. I felt the same way a few weeks ago. It’s like one day the trees in and around my yard were stripped and dead, and the next they were green with life again.
I think time is an easy thing to lose, especially in grief when time seems to work differently. When we’re grieving it’s like time should work in tandem with the emotion we’re feeling but it doesn’t.
