IT’S A BRAND NEW DAY

Hey friends, how are you today? Reallyโ€ฆ how are you? We are about seven weeks away from a brand-new year and about six weeks away from Christmas.   But first, for those of us in the US, Thanksgiving is coming up. 2020 has been a year of reckoning for most of us, hasnโ€™t it? What a strange and different kind of year, it has been! Most of us have more โ€˜friendsโ€™ online than we do in actuality and those we do have in our tiny circle have been โ€˜so closeโ€™, yet โ€˜so farโ€™.  As social beings, this year has taken a toll on relationships. As time goes on, it has taken work to continue to keep in touch with those outside our homes and we all have suffered the loss.  2020 has made it possible for most of us โ€˜introverted typesโ€™ to become even more so, and my heart goes out to the โ€˜extroverted typesโ€™, I could not even imagine your loss.

For most of my life, Iโ€™ve been a โ€˜task orientedโ€™ over people, person.  It takes work and being intentional for me to put people before a task.  Iโ€™ve said it before, Iโ€™m a control freak! 2020 has been a battle year for me.  My โ€˜normalโ€™ routine had to be thrown out eventually, although I tried and tried to hold on to it.  I flounder when I do not have a routine, I feel like a wave being tossed to and fro.  Good days, bad days; up days, down days, and everything in between days.  I try not to put a โ€˜set plan together, because โ€˜setโ€™ plan may need adjustments, but there have been so many adjustments already, I donโ€™t want to make plans, but then if I donโ€™t a plan, but Iโ€™m left like a leaf buffering in the wind.   Help!

But then I do thank the Lord for brand new days.  Days that began with just grace and mercy.  New days filled with brand new opportunities to do things differently and with brand new chances for do-overs.  New days already filled with Godโ€™s love and an overflowing box of forgiveness because the Lord knows Iโ€™ll need it.   Perfect days that havenโ€™t been written on, yet.  I get to decide on the course of this brand-new day.  I decide my actions, I decide on my attitude to the adjustments that will be made to my plans.  Today, I decide whether I want to be a wave being tossed to and fro, or I can be proactive with tentative plans and do what I can and leave the rest to the One, Who know best.  Thank You, Lord for brand, spanking, new days!

Are you an introvert or extrovert? Are you task-oriented or people oriented? What are you thankful for today?

  1. Hi, I am an introvert who loves people. I just recharge in quiet, stay to myself times. However, how much quiet time can one get with nine children? God really must have a sense of humor. I am task oriented, but I am also people oriented as many of my tasks revolve around serving someone’s needs.
My oldest daughter was to be married later in December, but due to new Covid regulations, it has been moved to next weekend… so we commit our plans to the Lord, and He has been so good to help us when they have to be adjusted!
    Blessings on your week.

  2. LOVE the Tapestry-ndy sign! ๐Ÿ™‚ Delightful posting, too! My wife notes I get my energy from other people, but strangely have enjoyed this year of “retirement” with almost no interaction but just her (due to the covid thing). God is good . . . all the time!

  3. Even as an introvert these days have been trying. Iโ€™m an essential worker and dealing with all the drama and trauma has had a negative effect. Iโ€™m having to be proactive to limit that in my life to keep a right attitude.

  4. Extroverted people person, here, and I am grateful for the mornings that start with just grace and mercy. Thankfully, God allows do overs! I enjoy your blog; my favorite part is how you always ask us how we are doingโ€”I mean REALLY. Every time it encourages me to stop and say to myself,โ€Well, how are you REALLY doing?โ€ Godโ€™s best to you.

  5. Iโ€™m definitely an ambivert these days and probably more task oriented.

We all feel overwhelmed about this year but my pastor said, of this year, what if 2020 is just the beginning of a horrible decade…gulp!! So thankful to have Christ in my life no matter what kind of day, year, or decade happens!!
    Good encouraging postโค๏ธ

  7. Uh huh. Like you, I am task-over-people and an introvert. Leave me to myself and my tasks, thank you, and don’t bother me with your needs; I’ll get with you when it suits me.
Ach! Praise God for His intervention and grace. He opens me up, brings people my way, and blesses me immensely and intensely. He changes me.

  8. Iโ€™m a task oriented introvert who is thankful that my son and his family are coming over for Thanksgiving. I havenโ€™t seen our grandson since February, so this will be like a family reunion…but only six people in all.

  9. Thank you for the sincere “How are you?”. However overwhelmed, I’m grateful for the reminder to be grateful. It’s such a shift in the way I view my life and almost immediately brings more peace. It’s like you say – we get to decide our course. Blessings to you, friend.
