AUGUST THRIFT HAUL

Hey friends, how are you today? Today, in our neck of the woods, it is a cloudy, dark, and gloomy day, although the meteorologist says the sun will be out later. Right now, though, there isnโ€™t any proof that, this is a possibility. The clouds are are so dark and thick, it literally blankets the sky. Of course, meteorologists are rarely right, (I mean wrong), so our hope for a sunny day canโ€™t be placed in their forecast. But we do know of Someone, whose forecast for our future is always right on target. When He says, โ€œI will never leave you nor forsake youโ€, thatโ€™s exactly what He means.  It is an unconditional, unwavering, unfailingly promise.  He is there through thick and thin, through the storms and in the sunshine, through the ups and downs; He is always there.

The events of 2020 would have us believe otherwise. If we keep our eyes leaser-beamed on all that has been taken away in 2020, we could easily lose sight of the Presence of God in our lives. Yes, this year has been unprecedented in many, many ways.  The year has brought several changes to the way, we DO life; the manner in which we interact with others has primarily been affected and we are social beings; we love people.  Really, we do…  we just donโ€™t know it yet.  Although, there are several things we canโ€™t do right now, there are several we can.  Letโ€™s be thankful for things we can do, the places we can go, the people we can see.  Today is the day to give thanks.

One of places that have recently opened back up is our thrift stores [thank the Lord].  By now,  itโ€™s of you know, I enjoy thrifting, in fact I enjoy shopping, but thatโ€™s for another day.  Here are a few pieces I picked up throughout the month of August.

It has so hot and humid throughout the summer, that hats have become my favorite accessory. This one is cute, chic and fabulous.

Vintage handbag that I just had to have
These became my most used summer shoes
see what I mean?

Apart from the handbag, that my hubby bought for me, this entire outfit was thrifted. See the shoes ๐Ÿ™‚

this is how I choose to wear the top
This is me in a captain ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my choice of brand for blazers, I am rarely disappointed. The quality is truly spectacular.

Trust the Lord to hold and keep you throughout the year. Don’t be too quick to discount the many blessings that He has in store for you. Do you thrift? Have you gone back to thrifting yet?

To see more of my trifled clothing, check me out on Instagram. Letโ€™s continue the conversation over on Instagram. Follow my Instagram and I will follow back, just let me know in the comment section. I would love to meet you ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Good fun!!! I thrift a bit but we donโ€™t have near as good of a selection as the items I see you post!!
You always look so classy!! Iโ€™m trying to figure out how you walk on a high heel like those…I love them but mine are half that size and I struggle, so I usually just keep them designated for a church shoe LOL

  2. August was a banner month for you, Brenda! What fabulous finds. Love that Ann Loft top with the pleated neckline and bow in the back. You are the perfect illustration of the Proverbs 31 woman who “makes sure her dealings are profitable” (Proverbs 31:18a NLT)!

  3. Our thrift stores are open, but most do not allow clothes to be tried on. I haven’t really done much thrift shopping. I did get to go wedding dress shopping with #1 ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Those finds are FANTASTIC!! You have some great thrift stores in your area ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorite thrift store didn’t open this summer (I’m not really surprised, just disappointed) and honestly, I haven’t been anywhere else. I have been using ThredUp online though, so I guess that’s about the closest I’m going to get to a thrift store this summer ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s alright, there’s always next year! God Bless!

  5. I’m not a big shopper. But I do visit the thrift stores. And I’m horrible at fashion or knowing what really looks good together. I think it comes from being what people use to call a “tomboy”. I guess at heart I still am even though I do like to dress up if I have some place to go. You make me think of my best friend. She’s a good shopper and loves clothes too.

  6. Gorgeous items and you look fabulous. I use to stay in the stores and just recently ventured out twice. I always pray first and it hasnโ€™t been bad at all. I do it now just to get out if the house and for relaxation. You can actually shoo in my closet because I retired back in 2008 and donโ€™t get to wear my clothes these days so I donโ€™t need any new ones lol. Glad youโ€™re having fun. Be safe, Be Blessed my friend.

  7. I love your thrift hauls! You have such a great eye! That’s my problem…I not only hate shopping for myself, I have no ability to visualize how things might look or go together or even if they might flatter me. What you have is a gift.

  8. I do thrift! Something I’ve missed, but we’ve gotten to do a little this summer. We always pray before we go in a store that God will show us what He wants us to get and who to get it for. It’s been a great way to bless others and to teach our kids God will provide. Thanks for sharing your thrifty treasures! Brought a smile to my day. God bless!!

  9. I buy the majority of my clothes at thrift shops…for several different reasons. One is that when you buy used clothes, the item is as it will be! It has already been washed and worn. I got annoyed with buying something new, and then after washing it it changed – it shrank in size, lost a nice “feel” it had, etc – and I no longer liked the item near as much.
