DO YOU SEE IT?

Hey friends, how are you today? Guess what?? Our noisy neighbors, the very loud cicadas have finally decided to grace us with their presence; summer has arrived, and it’s here to stay. Although, I must admit the temperatures have been heralding the arrival of summer for a while now.  Yesterday’s temperature was a whopping 99Β°; as a matter of fact, we’ve been in the 90°’s almost all week long.  We’ve even had heat advisories for a few days, including yesterday and again today, our high will be a wonderful 94Β°.  But am I complaining? Nope! In Central New York, during the winters, our temperatures usually dip into the negative numbers and that’s in Fahrenheit, friends.  So nope, no complaining over here. Isn’t our God amazing in the beauty He sends our way, in His seasons?  Every season brings its own enchantment and wonder, just for our viewing pleasure and for His glory.  Oh, how He loves us; unconditionally, unwaveringly, unfailingly.  How is your weather in your neck of the woods?

As a family, we usually fill our 4thΒ with experiences.Β Β Most times, we spend the day at a local park (we choose a different one every year). We ensure there are waterfalls or other heritage sights that will keep us occupied for a few hours. Sometimes we invite others, but most times it’s just the four of us and our picnic basket.Β Β Β This year, our rainfall has not been as forthcoming as in past years, so instead of a roaring waterfall, there was in its place, literally just a trickle.Β Thankfully this park also came with a mountain that offered a moderate hike. Although our girls insisted that, that description was a bit misleading, they said it should say strenuous.Β Β Well, since I ran almost every day, I was very happy to call them β€˜wimps’, of course they tried to defend their position, but we all know it’s true.Β Β I told them to join me on my daily, morning runs, but their sleep is too sweet.Β Β In the meantime, they are… wimps!Β

Do you see it in creation? In people? In seasons? Do you see the wonder, feel the enchantment, observe the beauty? Do you see the unfailing, unwavering, unconditional love of the Holy God?

  1. Thanks for your upbeat (and uphill) post, Brenda! My husband and I enjoyed God’s creation by camping in the trees at a nearby state park for July 4th weekend. While hiking and biking, we saw prairie grasses, wild flowers, rocky bluffs, deer, monarchs, and a few buffalo (in distance beyond fence).

  2. Glad you could still find the positive outside in Gods country despite the trickle left behind for the waterfall! The weather has been amazing here in Tahoe although we’ve had some bouts of unusual heat, very blessed indeed!

  3. I love the pictures! My wife is from upstate New York, and we have hiked many trails in the Adirondacks. They can be deceptively strenuous!

God’s creation is indeed breath taking!

Thank you for sharing. I enjoy your blog!

    God Bless.

  4. So very beautiful. Thank you for sharing. My husband and I are attempting to hike the Mid State Trail from Maryland to NY. After ~15 years and two foot surgeries for my husband and knee problems for me, we did over half of it. I have some really awesome pictures. I see nature as the temple outer court, and we are the inner court. Nature is God’s demonstration of His glory, which I am sure you agree.

Tell your daughters that hiking perfects their character because it build perseverance. A couple of weeks ago, we climbed two very steep mountains in one day from the bottom of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon to Big Spring road 1000 ft above Woolrich, PA. I had to pray and seek God’s strength to ascend the second mountain. God is faithful, and we can do all things through Him who gives us strength.
