BEE LOVE AWARD

Hey friends, how are you doing today? How was your week? Until yesterday, we were in spring-like weather. Well, winter came roaring like a lion, and I’m not even mad at it.  The temperature ad dipped once more below the freeze mark and snow has made its arrival.  Just a reminder that though it may look like spring, it truly isn’t quite spring yet.  But that’s okay, I’ve got good news, anyway.  Our girls are going to spend spring break with us.  Hooray! We will spend an entire week together and guess what’s on the agenda? I’m sure jesusluvsall can guess? Yep! Shopping! A trip to NYC and movies is also part of the schedule.  Oh, what fun!!

In the scheme of things, my definition of love is truly insignificant.  What does it matter what I say about love and what is love, when the One, Who IS love has already defined it so very eloquently? I can assure you, my definition truly cannot compare.

What does God say love is, really? According to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

This is not only the definition of love, but also it defines love in action. Although the word β€˜love’ is a noun; it is the name of an emotion, this emotion is usually demonstrated through actions, wherever possible.Β Β Love always requires us, as people to act.Β Β

I must admit I am selfish by nature, truthfully, I was born with that nature. Selfishness is so ingrained and I wear it so well, that I sometimes forget that love needs to be demonstrated, especially to those around me.

But on the days when I walk not according to my flesh; on the days when I walk in the spirit, I have been known to be kind, to be happy and celebrate the successes of others.  Although this one is difficult for me, I can also endure the waspish nature of some people around me, and also very recently, admonished  a close relation, to keep watch of their walk.  I have been told, I am a good encourager and can make those around me very comfortable.

Lately, especially as I undertook the opportunity to write about love throughout the month of February, I have realized, that I do not love as I should, but I’m working on this, with the help of my Lord and Savior.   I have come to the conclusion, the words are easier said than done.  It’s easy to tell you, I love you, because we don’t see, know, each other.  For you, they are good words to say and I truly mean it.  I do love you.

But those around me, may tell a different story, because it’s in their company that love is actually tested.  Have I told you before, I am control freak? Do you want to know something about those who like things in a certain manner? They have the tendency to be more task oriented, rather than people oriented, which simply means, that people usually take second place to the tasks. Which also means we have a three strikes rule… three strikes (sometimes one) and you’re out! But God… He gives more grace and shows more mercy because He is good, though He will never compromise His Word, not even for those He loves.

This award goes to anyone, who desires to do it. I think it’s a good one. Let me know if you will. How do you show love? How would you define love?

  1. God is love which is the greatest love of all. Not all love has to be about emotions, sexual attractions or feelings. Jesus showed the greatest love by giving it all up on the cross of calvary for everyone πŸ™‚

I never really understood LOVE. Growing up I didn’t real have that and I tend to find love in the next relationship I found myself and also from people who doesn’t even know the meaning itself.
I thank God I’m learning to love myself 😊

  2. When we think of love we tend to think of emotions or feelings, but it’s more than just unbridled and boundlessness emotions. Apgape love is a choice. A prime example of Apape love is Romans 5:8. Love kept Christ on the Cross, not the nails.

Love is so much more than how I feel about someone. Whether it is my significant other, family member, other Saints or friend, so often love is given based on what is being reciprocated. But what do I do when it isn’t easy to love? The scripture states it in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. So, what is love? When I walk in what this scripture says. I do not want to love when I feel angry, impatient or I’m being self centered. But when I deny myself (Mark 8:34) and walk in humility I am able to bear someone in love (Ephesians 4:2).

  3. Ah, love. So hard. We only know love when we know God. We can only know God through His love, Jesus Christ.
And THEN, as you say, is the part about living it out: being love to those we encounter around the perimeter and close up.
Lord, forgive me. Guide me. Strengthen me.
