I FOUND IT!!! THANK YOU, LORD!

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? Where do I even start with my week? It was busy, as a matter of fact, busy does not adequately describe my week; hectic is the word that comes to mind. But we will talk more about me, in a bit. The weather, this week, has been gorgeous.  The sunshine proclaimed the glory of God in all its beauty. Have you ever wondered why we think of sunshine as beautiful? This same sun with all its shine has been in existence from the creation of the universe.  It has not changed; it certainly is not any prettier than it was when it was first created.  Do you think it gets more beautiful with age? I think not, perhaps if we listen closely, it will tell us some stories; like that time when Joshua ask the Lord to cause the sun to stand still, so that his army could continue the fight (Joshua 10:13].   Now that would be a good story; wonder whether the sun told the Lord, “not today”, do you think God had to convince the sun to do this? Uhhh no; creation does not negotiate with the Lord.  Maybe if creation can obey, so can we?

In Tuesday’s post, I told you that Benny and I will celebrate our twenty fifth anniversary on the 30thof this month.  For our anniversary, all I wanted was a new set of wedding bands, after all mine was twenty-five years old; the engagement ring is actually twenty-six years! I really don’t think that was asking too much, right? I was so very excited at the prospect of changing my rings.  Like a child in a candy store, I quickly and eagerly began the adventure of acquiring a new set. 

Literally about two days later, I could not find my wedding bands.  Every night, before bed, I remove all my jewelry, which I used that day, including the rings.  As usual, before I leave the house, I put on my rings and that day, it was no where to be found.  Initially, I thought nothing of it, it’s probably in the bathroom, or living room, or kitchen, so I thought.  After a few days of half heartedly searching for it, I become a little worried.  I asked the rest of the family whether they had seen the rings, but unfortunately no one had.  Then I became really, really worried and seriously undertook the task of searching for them, I even convinced my family to help me.  In all of the twenty-five years, Benny and I have been married, I have never lost or misplaced my rings and now I simply can’t find them anywhere.        

At this point, I no longer wanted a new pair of rings, I simply wanted mine!  I didn’t realize I had valued these rings to that extent, until I could not find it. Unemotionally, I began the task of finding a replacement.  I really, really wanted my old rings back.  I knew I had not lost the rings, I just didn’t know where I had placed them, so I suppose I had misplaced them.  

At what point, do you think, I intentionally began seeking the Lord’s help in finding the rings? Sometimes, in my case, it takes desperation. Usually, if it’s a ‘little’ thing, you know, something insignificant, then usually my first response is I can handle it, so I tried to handle it.  The Lord has bigger problems which needs bigger miracles. I did buy a replacement, but it wasn’t fun anymore.  So, I did what I should have done a few weeks ago.  I pleaded with the Lord to please direct my steps to the rings, I knew they had to be in the house somewhere.

I wore the new set one time and continued my search.  And guess what?  I found it! Earlier this week, while refolding (again) the blankets near the fireplace, the rings literally fell out of one of the blankets.  Ahhh, my heart my happy. I immediately thank the Lord and rejoiced.   I called everyone in the family to show them my ‘new’ rings.  I took a picture and sent it to my husband.  I was so very thankful that I had found my rings.  I returned the replacement pair back to the store. I found out I really didn’t want a new pair after all, perhaps next year. For now, I’m content with my old ones.

  2. Congratulations on 30 years of marriage! I love celebrating milestones, and I hope you have weather on that day as beautiful as the weather you started your post with.

    Your rings are lovely, and I am so very glad you found them.

  7. Our temperature here in Louisiana is around 105-110 with the heat index. Plus were under a severe hurricane, which suppose to hit tomorrow God spare. The city where I live is expected to receive 20 inches of rain.

  14. This was a great post. I’m glad you found your rings! I have lost a lot of things over the years. One time I lost a paycheck before automatic deposit days! We had to cancel the old and get reissued a new one😢. Also, I was pumping gas in my truck on a windy day and had swiped my debit to pay at the pump and laid the card on the back side of the truck. I literally watched the wind pick the card up and blow it into the back of the bed of the truck. When I finished pumping, it could not be found! I think it landed into one of those cracks back there! It wasn’t on the pavement underneath the truck or anywhere around it either! I had to cancel the card with the bank!😢🤷‍♀️🙄

  16. Your post reminds me of what Jesus said in Luke 15 about the woman who lost a coin- 8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins[a] and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’
