I WISH…, I WISH FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT?

Good day friends, how are you today? How was your week? For those in the US, what did you do yesterday for Independence Day? In my neck of the woods, yesterdayโ€™s temperature rose to a whopping 93ยฐ! I thought of complaining, but I quickly remembered how much I beseeched the Lord for warmer temperatures (canโ€™t remember whether I used the word โ€˜hotโ€™), but well… 93ยฐ may feel hot to me, but somewhere in Arizona โ€˜hotโ€™ may not be used unless the temperature tops over 100ยฐ.ย ย

Rain is the forecast though and ummmโ€ฆ. Iโ€™m looking forward to it.  No complaining, no whining over here, not even from the kids, just enjoying the beauty of Godโ€™s wonderful world, and itโ€™s beautiful isnโ€™t it? There is a saying being bandied around that goes like this: โ€˜you never miss the water โ€˜till the well runs dryโ€™.

After high 80ยฐโ€™s and two 90ยฐ and more days, that rain that I complained about earlier in the season, is now very much welcomed.ย ย Sometimes I wonder if God shakes His head at His people.ย Do you think He and Jesus and Holy Spirit discuss the trials these humans are at times? Will we ever be a content people?ย

Contentment is key to living an abundant life.ย ย Complains and grumbles is inherent, I think. As parents, we usually admonish our kids about envy and wish for something that isn’t theirs. ย The constant desire for something else, something different drives us toward discontentment.ย ย

Enjoying and taking pleasure in, whatever state I am tells a story of thankfulness. I can now say like Paul, in โ€œPhilippians 4:11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:โ€

  2. Living in Florida, we hear lots of complaints about the weather, but you are right – itโ€™s all in your outlook. I too try to remind myself to be content in all circumstances, but it takes intentionally working on that! Great post and the photos were beautiful. That video of the falls was pretty.

  3. Great photos Brenda! We have a wood duck family visit us each year Mama Duck, Papa Drake & normally around 12 of the cutest little ducklings! They walk their ducklings from the where they nested in the bush across the road down to the waterfront behind us. Its such a delight! ๐Ÿ˜€
    Bless you,

  5. I enjoyed your pictures; they looked cool, refreshing, and fun. Glad you had a good time. I’m working on the “contentment” part as well. It takes discipline. But when a person is content as Paul was, he or she is rich, no matter how the bank account looks! I thank the Lord that His Kingdom isn’t about material richness.

  6. Love your outfit, especially the hat! ๐Ÿ™‚ Working on not complaining here as well. I’ll let you know how it’s going after this heat wave breaks, lol. Very glad for A/C at the moment ๐Ÿ˜‰ (Our house gets ridiculously hot…very bad insulation ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ) Happy belated Fourth! God Bless!

    • Thank you and I hope you had a wonderful day. It was 94ยฐ today, Iโ€™ve come to the conclusion that meteorologists canโ€™t be trusted. It rained for about a minute…ummm did that sound like complaining? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ nope, not me; Iโ€™m just over enjoying the heat. Well actually with you, Iโ€™m thanking the Lord for A/C. Blessings my friend

  7. Something has upset my apple cart this morning and I am finding it hard to be content. So I’m glad God sent me your way to remember that: “Contentment is key to living an abundant life.” I need to work on it. Thanks. And after spending July 4 outside, I’m content to be back in the air conditioning today. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. What we need, want most and desire more than anything can’t be found here! It will only be found where the eternal lies; which we are now unable to see but can learn to understand by the Holy Spirit or Comforter who comes to us when we “Let go and let God,” when we surrender to Him our Lord and Savior, He will send us a Comforter who precedes all wisdom.
You know about not storing up our treasure on earth where moth do ruin, but instead store up our deepest most valuable treasures within our soul in His heavenly kingdom!
The photography is very dazzling and pretty!
    Thank you and God Bless!

      • Yes you’re right and I guess what i need to add is how my Dad and grandparents always impressed upon me that we only need the basics of a roof over ya head and decent meals then serve God and work hard! I think the world got too tempting with too much to be had and subsequently people got a greedy mind-set! Mixed up priorities and all that; so many materialistic gangster types and in all walks of life but then pop culture is promoting it so much too! My pleasure and say anything on your mind if you happen to read my stuff. May the Lord Bless You as well!

  9. I LOVE your pictures, Brenda! ๐Ÿ˜
We had a lovely Fourth. Got to visit with friends who have a cabin on the lake. Took two pontoon rides: one in daylight just to enjoy; the other at night to watch the city’s fireworks. Awesome! (I really enjoy fireworks – and friends!)

  10. Really liked “Can’t remember the name.” It’s a beautiful picture.
Temps hot here too but not 93 degree. Today we have humidity to match. The weather on the 4th was great.
