A BIT OF WAFFLING AND A THRIFT HAUL

Hey, wonderful friends, how are you today? I pray that you had a fabulous week. The weather has been very fickle, in my neck of the woods.  Almost everyday this week, we have had a mixture of sun and rain.

Now although I enjoy both the sun and the rain; the combination of the two on almost every day this week, have been a little disheartening at times.  “Rain… again, Lord?”  I think even the trees have more than their fair share of the rain; but we do know this verse, right?

I was reminded throughout the week that I have choices.  I can choose to be unhappy about the constant rain and the slight ‘wintery’ chill which accompanies it; or I choose to be thankful that the sun came out that day. Life does not ‘happen’ to me; my choices affect how I ‘do’ life.  I can choose to complain and whine, and groan and moan and grumble about the unfairness of my circumstances or I can choose to recognize and rejoice and be glad over my many, many blessings.  Life is all about choices and ummmmm…. we’ve been chosen to make them, by an Awesome Creator.

And here is the good news friends, we do not have to make these decisions on our own. As a matter of fact, I have found it is easier to complain and whine and groan and moan and grumble than it is to rejoice and be glad. How do I come out from the ‘dark side’ into the ‘glorious light’? Well glad you ask! Believe me when I say this; it’s hard to complain and whine and groan and moan and grumble to the Lord.  Somehow before I leave His Presence, there is gladness and joy with rejoicing. Try it, I dare you.  You can thank me later.

Well, that went ‘downhill’ or perhaps ‘uphill’ fast. I really came here to share with you, my thrift haul.  The girls are home; I think I may have said that before, but just in case you missed it the first time: the girls are home on college break.  One of our favorite pastimes is… you guessed it; thrift shopping! Here are a few of the pieces I found last month.  I had to take two sets of photos; you know why? Because in the first set, a few of the clothes were not ironed.  Now usually that wouldn’t bother me, but my husband reads my posts and he would be bothered. Isn’t that something? Anywhoo… we actually began our shopping in Cedarville, Ohio when we picked up the girls from school, and of course just continued throughout the month.  No more rambling… here we go; thrift haul time. I promise this… no more rambling; I did tell you before, I can talk, right? Anyway. here we go.

I thought I’d start with shoes. I bought four pairs last month. I know… a teeny, tiny bit excessive. BUT remember in the last post, when I said I did not wear flats very often? Well that’s because I did not have that many choices..

I now have no excuse, except I still prefer heels, but at least, now I have a choice

This is a pair of Styllus jeans (never heard of the brand) but the comfort is on the next level
This is a Calvin Klein blouse; the beauty is really the back and the color also had me at ‘pink’
This is a Calvin Klein blouse; the beauty is really the back and the color also had me at ‘pink’
This Adrienne Vittadini is beautiful. love the color, love the fit, love the comfort
This top is from The Limited. I love the colors and it’s cute, probably because it is beautiful made
This Lauren Conrad blouse is a tad bit sheer, but the colors cannot be ignored
The White House Black Market skirt had me at White House Black Market. Yep; I bought it for the brand, but it is cute and comfortable.

What do you think my finds? Do you thrift? Let’s choose to live life abundantly today.

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.

  2. I ❤️❤️❤️ thrift shopping! And I was just talking with a friend this morning after Ladies prayer meeting this morning about her Clark shoes that she was wearing. They look almost exactly like those white ones you have. She was saying she wished she had bought the different colors. They are so comfortable! And she said they change the style up every year. They may add one more strap, etc. I thought that was an Interesting fact to know lol. I loved the flowery blouse you bought! I love flowery clothes. I guess it’s safe to say that I’m a flower child at heart LOL.

  3. You found some lovely clothes and shoes Brenda! I’m a thrift-shopper too: easy on the pocketbook and keeps clothes and things out of landfills. Love the blush pink, my favourite spring colour! 🙂

We’re experiencing the same type of weather as you. I’m just glad it’s not snowing! I can’t change the weather, but I can change my attitude. Being grateful feels so much better than being miserable. Just like smiles looks better than frowns. 🙂 God is good … all the time! Rejoice in the Lord always! A merry heart does good like medicine.

    Love and blessings!

    • Sorry for the tardiness, Carmen 🙂 It has been a busy few days, including my favorite man’s birthday 🙂 🙂 Lately, my hands have been drifting toward the blush pink, I am even thinking of turning my closet into that color 🙂 🙂 Not sure that’s a good ides 🙂 Thank the Lord it isn’t snowing; we would certainly have too many inches on the ground; I am working on the merry heart after the third day of of ceaseless rain 🙂 Definitely need more of the Lord

  5. I do some thrift shopping. My mom does all her clothes shopping at Goodwill. She often gets comments on how nice she looks. She say, “Thanks. Got it at Goodwell.” People can’t believe it. She’s a good shopper. Better than I am.

  6. Love ALL the shoes you got…I wear flats/small heels so I don’t twist an ankle 😀 And who doesn’t need a pair of white jeans? Yes! Since my boys are grown, I only occasionally check thrift stores …mostly order clothes online now.

  7. My favorite thrift store (Great prices…practical clothes for kids and occasionally some great finds for myself 😉 ) is opening in two weeks. I’m very excited, lol! You got some great items! I love the blouses 🙂 And it is HARD to complain to God, lol. I always start off going, “Well, things are tough…but thank you for x, y, and z…I guess it could be a lot worse…please help change my attitude about the things that are tough.” 🙂 You are right, I always end up feeling better and rejoicing in the Lord. AMEN! God Bless!

    • I’m so very excited for you, my friend. Do post some of your finds, when you go shopping. Yesss…. I usually find myself starting with the complaint but always ending with thanksgiving. How can I complain, when I am so very blessed? The Lord will not allow it 😂😂 thanks for this comment, my friend.

  8. Brenda, I love your taste. Every article is gorgeously elegant. The floral blouse and pale pink blouse are absolutely stunning and did I see Ann Taylor Loft sandals? Sketchers are so comfortable…..I didn’t know they made sandals!! My nephew is getting married August 3 and I don’t know what to wear. I do have a dark brown dress but am not sure if that color works for summer. A friend is sending me a dress of hers she thinks will work instead. It’s white with black designs…..very pretty, it may work. As I’m not able to get out and shop these days, I’ve got to make it work being the aunt of the groom. Anyway, I was thinking…..”I wonder what Brenda would think”….I am nervous about being at a wedding in my condition but at least if I feel dressed appropriately that may help me feel better. 😉 Lovely, post as always my friend! ❤🤗
