IT’S COMING…BUT I AM LOVED

Hey friends, how was your weekend? How are you doing? Today, in my neck of the woods, we’re (enjoying?) a winter storm. More than three inches of snow has already accumulated in under three hours, not bad, right? I can’t help but see evidence of God in storms. There is beauty and power displayed during storms and yes, there is seemingly also destruction, yet despite that destruction or perhaps because of the destruction, usually something stronger and more lasting is born. James 1 2Isn’t that so like our lives, sometimes.Β  Various storms roll into our lives, in unexpected and most times, unwanted ways, yet as Christians we are reminded to β€˜count it all joy’.Β  Because out of the storms comes stronger, mature and more godly Christians.Β  It’s not always easy nor instinctive to β€˜count it all joy’, but that’s okay, we’re were never meant nor are we expected to do so, on our own.Β  Enough is the load of the storm, right? And again, not even that we were meant to carry.Β The Lord knows we are fragile humans, we are more likely to buckle under the pressures of life.Β  I don’t know how people who do not know the Lord, do it.Β How do they stand, when the struggles of life come knocking at their doors?ii-peter-3-1Storms are inevitable, because some people do not want to face the winter storms, they’ve moved to California, where there they find the storms of fires and earthquakes, or the Midwest, where tornadoes or wind storms are frequent or the South, where hurricanes come calling.Β  Where can we go? Where can we run? Fires destroy homes, children die too young, loved ones are killed, sometimes by other loved ones, families are divided due to divorce or another catastrophe.Β  Some storms are brought about because of our own choices, other storms enter our lives just because we live in a sinful world.Β Storms in inevitable, expect them, they’re coming. I Peter 5 7But God… isn’t that the most beautiful two words ever heard? Look up, child (still my favorite Lauren Daigle song).Β  Look up, when the storms inevitably come knocking.Β Whether the storms of life are because of my own choices or perhaps allowed, I serve the God, Who controls the storms.Β He speaks to them and their only response is to obey.Β  They know His voice, when He speaks.Β  He controls the temperature of the storm; not too cold, not too hot; just that right temperature. What choice do the storms have, when the LORD of lords has spoken, but complete obedience. Β He is God of the storms.Rom 5 8But me… not so wonderful, but still wonderful.Β I am weak and frail and unfortunately, instant obedience isn’t in my DNA.Β  Still, wanna know what so wonderful about me? I am loved.Β  Three little words, yet they have so impacted my world.Β I AM LOVED! The wonder of it is in the One who loves me.Β  I suppose that goes back to But God… and in spite of me…. but I am loved.Β  Because I am so very much loved, when the storms of life some my way, I run to the One who loves me and I say, I can’t bear it.Β It’s too hard and He responds by saying, β€˜cast it all Me’. Sometimes I get it right and say β€˜gladly’; but not always.Β Sometimes I hold on to the storms, I embrace it and I make it mine.Β  Sometimes even though I don’t like the storms, it’s easier to keep it. Although it May take me a minute, my God consistently draws me to Himself.Β  He loves me, you see, in spite of me, with all my faults and idiosyncrasies.Β  He loves me and guess what? He loves you too, abundantly, unconditionally, unwaveringly, unfailingly.Β  HE LOVE YOU, embrace that today. Do you see Him in the storms?thanks buttonclosing1brenda

  1. Thank the Lord for you and this post. It is awesome how God works in our lives and others and how they interconnect when He wants them to because I needed this I have been going through some things and this Jared me back to the fact that God is in control and that He does love us all even it our moment of lacking and humanism. So I believe that the Lord blessed me with this and others through you. Amen my sister and have a most blessed day πŸ™πŸ»

  2. Wow! I am so thankful for this blog post. I cant wait to listen to the song Look up Child. I am in the middle of a storm right now and I know GOD is in control… The song I keep replaying over in my mind is…. “as the thunder rolls I barely hear you whisper through the rain I’m with you..praise you in this storm and I will lift my hands!” Even in the valley we must PRAISE His Great Name even when we can barely hear Him. Great post.. thank you!

  3. Love this!! Our pastor’s sermon this past Sunday was from Mark 4…Jesus calming the storm…he talked about the lessons to be learned in storms and also how they’re temporary…not only that but he made sure to point out how the disciples called on Jesus to calm the storm and he immediately stopped it and as a result the disciples learned to trust and build faith; we must be quick to do the same!!

  6. I loved the part when you said “Where can we go” no matter where we go to run away from one storm, there’s always other storms as you said, whether caused by us or something in God’s will. No matter where we go, we must learn to TRUST in God the storm chaser. Great Post Sis.

  7. One of my favorite Casting Crowns songs is β€œJust Be Held” and I like to remember it when I feel the storms of life pressing in. I think of the chorus:

β€œSo when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away / You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held / Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place / I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held / Just be held, just be held”

Songwriters: Mark Hall / Matthew West / Bernie Herms
Just Be Held lyrics Β© Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Universal Music Publishing Group, Essential Music Publishing, Capitol Christian Music Group, Kobalt Music Publishing Ltd.

This song always reminds me that when it feels like the world just fell apart, it’s God shaking up the puzzle pieces because some had fallen into the wrong spots. They looked like they were in the right place but upon closer inspection something was off. He’s got me. And I don’t always like the changes and I don’t always handle it well. But He’s always got me!

  8. We can look back and see how God was with us in the storms, how He carried us and taught us, and comforted us; how much we learned and grew in our walk with Him and with others.
Yet, in the midst of storms, it’s hard to remember how good the storms are for us. Thank God for His Almighty Grace and YES, LOVE!! ❀❀❀😊
