WHAT SHALL WE DO?

Hey friends, Happy, happy, beautiful, great, fabulous and fantastic New Year! How are you today? We usually ring in the New Year with other members at our church service and this time was no different. We began the New Year fellowshipping and reminiscing and as always there’s food, although I am on a diet. Did I tell you, that’s one of my goals for2019? Yes, unfortunately I need to lose some weight. I do enjoy exercising, that’s not the problem. The difficulty is I like food more. Pray for me, the older I get, the more difficult it is to lose weight, even ten to fifteen pounds. I am open to suggestions of exercising in the winter; usually I don’t have a problem when it’s warmer outdoors. I have decided that you all will be my accountability partner. Although I will not share my weight [it’s too embarrassing) I will share with you, whether I’ve met my weekly goal of losing two pounds of more. Please feel free to join me, if you wish. We’ll be conquerors together. I will confess now, I’ve had pizza and we went out for dinner with girls, last night. Let’s start Monday, shall we? Is everyone on board? rom 5 20
Remember, we decide what adjectives we will assign to 2019. I have decided that 2019 will be better than 2018 and 2018 was a wonderful year. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for me and you this year. Are you ready? I am not so sure I’m ready, but I will take it one day at a time. We will lean on the mercies and grace of a Loving and Gracious God. When we become discontented or frustrated with our lot, we will ask our Good Father to forgive us and we will accept the joy and peace, He alone can give in return. John 10 10
Were you one, who couldn’t wait for 2018 to come to an end? I’ve heard so many people say goodbye to 2018 with such joy and relief. We are aware, aren’t we, that our circumstances and situations do not control our actions. As Christians, God does (active) or He allows (passive). When we leave this earth, we take nothing and no one with us. In this present life, our Lord is concerned with our ‘becoming’ or our character. He uses our everyday life to develop and mature these characteristics, such as humility, patience, goodness, faith.gal 5 22 23
Let’s not despair when difficult and hard circumstances come our way, I know, I am talking to me too. This year will bring difficult days, my friends. That’s inevitable, at that time, we may think that’s unfortunate, but ultimately, we will, if we remain faithful, experience the goodness of the Lord.  Let’s walk together, in 2019.   1. Thanks for visiting and liking my blog. I’m so glad you did because not only was it an encouragement to me as a new blogger, but because it led me to you and your wonderful blog. So many great ideas here for embracing the New Year. I will be praying for you as you take on the challenges this year bring. I too struggle with getting active in the cold winter months but it sure is a blessing when I am. I went for a bundled up walk with my sister the other day and it turned my whole day around. God Bless! Keep writing! And don’t forget to be gracious with yourself 🙂

  2. John 10:10 is a wonderful promise, He gives us abundant life! I have never dieted and I’m still the same weight as when I was 15. I live by Genesis 1:29. I eat from the delicious abundance of the plants, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains that God made for us. I stay away from what I call non-foods (that’s almost everything processed that’s man-made, including vitamins). Everyone asks me, “Where do you get your protein?” From the same course that horses get it. Protein is in plants, God designed it that way. 🙂

  3. Happy Bless New Year!! 2019 Brenda!! to you and your family. Yes the LORD has allowed me to step into this year. It is He that has been given me the Strength for me to endure these days. I tell people every morning even when I’m in a Spiritual Warfare and that is expected of course.( “Today Is The Greatest Day of My Life “) Because I know that King Jesus Is always with me. He gets ((All)) Praise!! and Glory out of My Life!! \0/\0/ This year I have asked Him to continue using me for His Purpose. Greater Is He That Is In Me, Then he That Is In This World. Yes!! May we continue praying ye for one another. Agape!! Shalom!! \0/\0/ ((Hugs)) 🙂

    As somebody who has never been one small bit overweight (I’m 60), I’d say do not engage in diets, calorie counting or other restrictive activities. They frequently make one upset and that’s why there are so few results.
    The reason one is overweight is that their metabolism might be slow or damaged and they are always consuming way more than they should.
    One thing everybody can do is to absolutely exclude any snacks. Eating 3 times a day for adult is totally enough. One has to also use just simple drinks as water, mineral water, herbal tea and coffee. Whenever feeling hungry drink some water, tea or coffee and have a meal only 3 times a day.
    One has to also exclude absolutely any synthetic supplements, synthetic vitamins and anything that comes in pills, They don’t do any good for anybody. They are so popular because of insane profits they bring in to pharmaceutical companies. The newest research doubts even synthetic probiotics are good because there was no proof that they acted like natural probiotics such as kefir or sauerkraut and similar fermented things.
    Synthetic vitamins caused many issues in clinical trials and they never acted as natural vitamins. Most of them are excreted without doing anything for you, but overdose will cause harm. They observed even cancers with some artificial vitamins.
    Well, it is of highest importance to cook yourself everything you consume if you have such an opportunity.
    The other thing is that we can eat anything in normal doses as long as it is in its natural state.
    The problem causing agents are the chemicals in your food and, especially, what are called the health supplements. They are big trouble.

  5. Thank you for being so real in your blogs. I enjoyed 2018 and am also excited about the new year. My word for the new year is consistency, starting with my time with Jesus. I want to bring Him into everything I do this year and all throughout each day.

    • Amen! Love that word.. consistency’ that’s a good word, especially when applied to spending time with the Lord. He then enables us to be consistent in everything else 🙂 Great word and a valuable practice

  6. Hid is still on the throne no matter if it’s 2018 or 1820. As I’ve contemplated the flow of time from God’s perspective I’ve come to understand that the entire human history is less than a wink. One bad year is nothing compared to the Joy ahead.
    On your prayer request, I lost 150 pounds several years ago on Paleo and light exercise. Believe it or not too much or too intense exercise actually prevents weight loss. I can recommend Gary Collins book “primal power method ” for more insight.

  7. Joining you in losing weight, I need to shift 2 kgs = 5 lbs! And yes it’s much harder to loose the older you get.
    I find reduced portion sizes of what I eat while doing gentle stretches & walking mainly works for me. So doing this now 😀

  8. I think 2018 was my toughest year and yet, I have not regretted it or rushed it away as I did 2016 and 2017. Which were very very very difficult. Actually, I could call them the worst. But, I have grown so much in leaps and bounds. I am excited about 2019 and the joy it will bring, and yes, I know I am facing one big challenge that I should be afraid of, BUT I know I am not alone. Happy New Year!

  9. I will join you in that effort. However, I am be a little delayed as I will be having a knee replacement sometime later this month or early February. Until then I’m going to try to get some weight off to help with the surgery. Prayers for your success in this effort.

  10. I keep a mini-trampoline tucked against a wall in our TV room. I’m on it for 20 minutes every evening (well, I take Sundays off). And I’m on the treadmill downstairs for 20 minutes in the morning (again, Sundays off). I also have a therapy ball, on which I can sit and bounce and/or roll around. I go for the bouncy stuff because of health issues: rebounding helps flush the lymph system (look up “rebounding” on the Internet). I don’t watch much TV in the evenings, but at least I have something to divert my attention while I bounce (I listen to the radio in the mornings).
    I have been intentionally losing weight. Besides the exercise, I severely limit any wheat and sugar intake. I have a green smoothie in the mornings.
    Those work for me; I share them with you in case anything trips your trigger. 😊 Godspeed!

  11. Good for you, Brenda 🙂 Wonderful message as always. My husband and I are committing to cutting sugar out of our diet this year. Sugar is my downfall! I can never have just a little bit, I go back for more 😦 However, I know this about myself and so we are working to take back our health this year. We had been doing very well with our eating habits and then some life events happened and we let it go. However, my husband has lost weight already in a week just by cutting that out so we are on the right track! (I can’t lose weight at the moment for a reason I will be sharing soon 😉 ) God Bless and we are all here rooting for you!

    • Thank you, thank you 🙏🏽 I really do need it 😀 I’ll be rooting for your husband too, can’t wait for that surprise 😁 my struggle is portion control 😢😢 but I am determined to do better. Sometimes not being intentional or purposeful about things can be my downfall. But we serve a Great and Forgiving God.

  12. Wow! You really touched my heart with this one! Just a practical word of advice about the whole losing weight thing. If you use the My Fitness Pal app, it will help you because it will track your food and your exercise. Very importantly, watch your sodium intake because sodium makes you keep more water in your system than you need and it’s not healthy. That is probably what caused my stroke because sodium narrows your arteries and veins. Anyway, blessings for a wonderful New Year!

    • Oh wow! I’m glad you are doing better 😊but how are you really doing? Thanks for sharing, Vickie, I just downloaded the app and I think I may enjoy it. I am watching that sodium, especially because they seem to be concentrated in takeaway meals

      • Canned veggies and soups have a lot of sodium, too. I found that Progresso Healthy Choice soups have the least amount of sodium. After my stroke I was allowed 1200 mg for the first year. Then my neurologist increased it to 1500 and now I am at 1800. The normal amount is 2300, and it’s interesting to note that most pizza that you buy for delivery or take out is about 800-1000 mg per slice. Oh, my! I hope the app helps you to be a healthier, happier you!
