A WHISPER & A PRAYER

Hey friends, how are you today? How was your week? It’s been busy in my neck of the woods. My sweet husband is building me a closet, yeah! But this man and I are so very different; a blessing from the Lord, for which I am thankful.Β  I β€˜created’ a closet in our unfinished attic, which my husband is in the process of finishing for me.Β  Now I am very much aware of the fact that I am impatient and I am very fond of instant gratification.Β  These are not good qualities to possess and together, they are a recipe for disaster.Β  On the other hand, my husband likes to research and ensure he is completing his tasks the correct way.Β  I am interested in the finished project but he is all about the process.Β  Β He scourers the internet to secure all the information he needs to ensure that when he is finished with a project, it will last a lifetime.Β  But that also means he needs time, and time and time and… (well, you get my drift).Β  Β Mine will be done in one hour and it will β€˜look’ good (maybe) while he may be still in the research phase.Β  I like my way, even though it may not be the safest, it will be the fastest.Β  Needless to say, pray for me, friends, because he will not move any faster than he must to ensure that everything is done correctly.Β  I think my way is better, right, at least temporarily? Don’t you? Which of the two of us, are you most like? Are most men like mine, or are there ladies, with that same trait?Β 7A05F244-E1EF-4537-94EC-E59E3BBAE639Did you know we could talk with God? Many of us would prefer talking to God. Perhaps some of us enjoy talking about God.Β  But God has granted us direct access to Himself! Isn’t that amazing? The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords has given us, mere mortals, a communication link. He has made it possible for us to come into His very Presence.Β  Do you know my God?Β  Is 46 9This isn’t an opportunity to be taken lightly.Β  But talking with God is a bit more involved than talking to God.Β  Prayer is like having a conversation, except we are communicating with the Almighty, All-Powerful God. There is the implication that the parties involved in a conversation are talking and listening. Do you know the Lord is a great Listener? He is a wonderful Secret Keeper. Unlike many other listeners, He can actually do something about the trials, we may be facing.Β  I want that God! What part do I play in this two-way conversation? Well, glad you ask!! He expects us to listen, while He is speaking.Β  That’s part of the conversation; He speaks when we read His Word. As a matter of fact, He tells us about Himself and He tells us about us! No one knows us better than the Lord, not even ourselves! I Thess 5 17When we pray, we build a relationship with God.Β  He talks, we talk back. He listens, we also listen.Β  We get to know Him, He already knows everything about us; He is our Creator! When we pray, we ask for forgiveness, we offer thanksgiving and we bring our numerous requests before a Caring God.Β  One who makes a difference! That’s great news, especially in light of the world, in which we now live.Β  What’s your prayer life like? closing1brenda

  1. I pray without ceasing. I had gotten away from praying and the devil saw a opportunity to get in and cause chaos. I ran back to what I knew to defeat Satan and that’s prayer. I will never get away from praying again for sure. My husband is actually less patient than I and likes to work fast. I on the other hand am the one who likes to research and study before starting a project. I think both has it’s good and bad qualities. It depends on the individual and what you want I think.

  2. We can be so different, yes. I’ve been griping (in my head) this morning as I clean up the messes my husband made in the kitchen yesterday. Yet who am I to complain–he was doing the cooking instead of me! πŸ™‚

  4. I’m so glad to be your neighbor at Susan Mead’s link up! I can so relate to being married to an opposite. Marriage is sanctifying!

  5. Patience is a virtue my sweet wife. To be able to wait patiently and not get frustrated and annoyed is a God given gift, embrace it. Think of it as sanctification. The Master is working on us patiently and lovingly making us more and more like Him.

  6. Haha! The blessings and trials of differences in our marriages! And what a great reminder that prayer is a conversation. For me it’s rarely (if ever) audible, but more feelings and emotions.

  8. Oh bam…, knife to my heart! This girl finally agreed to move east of town and it’s taking me time to get settled (the old grey mare….). The hardest has been trying to find my quiet time and my quiet place. So I’m talking TO the Lord, but I’m not listening very well. So many projects…., I’m a perfectionist like your husband and believe in doing it right. I’m also impatient like you and want it done now. Bad combo. My hubs? If I see him with a tool in his hand? I’m running behind him asking lots of questions…, oh the disasters we’ve had in our 31 years of marriage. But he is as smart as a whip and better at many other things. Praise the Lord. This inspires me to find my place. Thank you! ❀️

  9. My husband and I are both on the impatient side. He is more willing to take his time though and do some research. But thankfully, not too much πŸ˜‰ My impatience is something I have been trying to work on…it’s hard!! Here’s to hoping your closet is finished soon, in it’s time! God Bless!

    • πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ yes, it is hard and part of the impatience is the disorder and I can’t find anything 😁😁 but we will call it a teaching moment ( as I have been told) and learn that trait called patience πŸ˜‚ May the Lord bless you

  10. I’m like you I want things when I want, where I want it and how I want it lol…so I understand!! The downfall to that is missing valuable teaching moments. I believe that a person who prepares is better equipped to handle the unexpected. Also, things aren’t done so haphazardly and just thrown together. Take this for example back in the day inventors took pride and took time in their inventions. Nowadays people are just throwing things together and we have so many recalls. God is showing me in this season that its ok to wait, plan and research. Awesome post! God bless you!!

  11. Hahaha! We are just like that in OUR house! πŸ˜‚ I am so thankful for my wonderful husband, who is meticulous and thoughtful and painstaking. I love that about him, and it drives me crazy. He is such a good balance for me.
And I love what you say about our time with our Heavenly Father. He does love His time with us, He loves to speak to us, and He loves it when we listen and talk WITH Him. ❀

    • Amen πŸ™πŸ½ we benefit ourselves when we allow ourselves the time necessary to actually communicate with our Heavenly Father. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I do thank the Lord for my husband, everything would be falling apart in our household, if not for him. πŸ˜‚ May the Lord bless you and your household

  12. Amen, I love talking with God! I am like your husband. I research and research before I do a project. I’m the same way with my writing. The post I did about John the Baptist took me 6 hours! I like to do things right the first time, so “measure twice, and cut once” is a good motto. God bless you guys! I pray the project goes great!
