TODAY IS A GOOD DAY

Phil 4 4Good day friends, how was your weekend? We had a great weekend.  The girls were here! We went thrift shopping (twice! I will share my finds in a later post).  They (not me, of course) needed a few bits of weather appropriate clothing.  We went apple picking, which is always a fun activity.  Unfortunately though, we went on Saturday.  One would think there was only one apple orchard in Upstate NY, because we could hardly find a parking spot.  But I suppose everyone had the same idea, because the best apple cider donuts and apple cider can only be found there. I do believe the girls choose this apple orchard primarily for its desserts.  D01C50AA-5557-42DA-8FA3-7C2EB9B01955It was wonderful spending time with them.  We made apple crisps for the first time.  It came out pretty good, if I do say so myself.  It was all Cleo’s idea of course, she is the experimenter.  You know they were missed, when my husband actually takes the time off work to spend with his girls.  Love this man, he is definitely a keeper! Our church is the best; the girls attended Sunday School and everyone assured them, they were missed. They had to leave afterwards, because it is almost a nine hour trip to their university and classes began on Monday.  But they definitely were able to rest in between the running around.  Guess what? I did not even mind the mess after they left.  And I can assure you they left our house in a mess.   But I do believe my body had forgotten how busy two teenage girls could be, because as of yesterday, I have been sick. 97326AA8-614F-45D6-912D-BE665B13C3CCBut in everything, we will give thanks, right?  It would have been worse, if the girls were here.  Doing absolutely nothing sounds very good to me.  Actually, I was commanded to rest. Thankfully, because it just my wonderful man and me, it’s easier to find the time to rest.  I may read one of the many books I bought at the True Woman Conference, which was absolutely refreshing.  And I may also read a very much fictional novel.  Reading with the TV playing a Rom. Com. in the background is my favorite resting pastime.  It is a beautiful day today, but rain is supposedly in the forecast.  ADC2137E-1D8D-40A5-A326-09BC78BC2972Jazz is with me, until later, when Benny comes home.  It will be a good day.  I will talk aloud to the Lord; I will tell Him how I feel.  He is an excellent Listener.  Have you had days, when you are thankful, in spite of being sick? Is 46 9God is still God, He is still good.  He is still ALMIGHTY and ALL-POWERFUL.   He definitely did not abdicate His throne.  How do you rest when you are sick?closing1brenda

  1. My kids are so good to let me take a nap when I’m sick, and sometimes there are things that just let go… we survive without getting them done! Feel better fast!

  3. I am encouraged by your perspective in life –that even in pain or sickness, we ought to be thankful. Amen to that. I’ve been through many seasons of pain, too both spiritual and physical and I can honestly say, those were the times I felt closest to Him the most. Didn’t the psalmist say, “It was good for me to be afflicted that I might learn your decrees?” Our wisest thoughts and decisions oftentimes (if not all the time) spring from what we learned out of those trying times we went through. So, in times of pain, I am always reminded to utter words of thanksgiving to the One who tasted the most pain on our behalf. Oh, by the way. I, too feel under the weather now coz it’s flu season in our area (both hubs and my two kids caught the virus, too). But I am thankful nonetheless, even as I ask and claim His healing sooooon.

  5. Being sick definitely isn’t fun, praying you feel better soon! And amen! when we are sick or going through a difficult circumstance, that is a great time to be thankful and give praise to God, it shows our faith, and it gives God sacrificial glory. It is just another opportunity to grow in our walk with Him. Because the truth is that we won’t feel things like sickness for much longer in the face of eternity. God bless you!

      • I’m good you know! Hanging on!! Yesss it was very chaotic and heart-wretching to us as a nation. Ah, many lost their commodities in the flood. No deaths! Praise God. We are all coming together as the body of Christ and extending God’s helping hand by donating food, clothing, water, and other supplies. Where I live on the island we won’t affected. Just a lil landslip to the back of our house but nothing major thank God for his grace. Keep our island in prayers. I believe God is speaking to us as his church & a nation. He’s calling us to repentance. It’s time for us to wake up out of our spiritual slumber and return to Him. He’s coming soon.
I’m glad to hear your throat is coming along. Continual healing in Jesus name. Blessings!

  7. It’s funny I’d read this today, when I’m actually home feeling lousy.
I’ve been in and out of bed, playing scrabble games on my phone, and dozing.
Sometimes I think He allows us to be sick to make sure we get rest!

  8. apple cider donuts! i must try. Our Calif coast apple orchard must have had 500 people there, too – w/ the clam festival going on down the road. our kids were home and I slept 9 hours last night – adult children are equally exhausting. worth every minute and I, too, am grateful. hope you’re better now.

    • 😂😂 they are certainly more exhausting than I remembered. But We won’t give them up for anything 😃👍🏽 Do try these donuts, you won’t be disappointed. I think we were counted in the hundreds also, primarily because it was a weekend.

  9. Beautiful orchard! So cool you got to spend time with them like that! I pray you get better soon! Re: your questions, When I was deathly sick at the beginning of my Celiac diagnosis all I could do was rest. There were many days, weeks, and months those first few years where I was laid out on the floor or couch in excruciating pain all day and night. All I could do was cry out to the Lord. I felt like Hezekiah and I thought I was going to die. I can testify that He is close to us and He carries us when we are broken. The daily pain is gone, but I still struggle with the damage the disease did to my small intestine. I have had many days where I am thankful despite being sick. On 1-6-2019 it will mark 7 years that I have been chronically ill, and the only reason I can be thankful is because of Jesus! He pulled me through and He’s still got me! Praise God! God bless!
