OHHH… ANXIOUS ME!

What we think about God; MATTERS! The month of April has been a pretty good month. I would even dare to say, the Lord has been very good to us, as a family.  Have you ever felt a bit anxious because it appears that every prayer you’ve prayed and even those things you did not pray for are being answered? During the month of April, the Lord miraculously answered a few of our prayers.  This is not a new phenomenon; we’ve seen the Lord work in our lives on numerous occasions. But every time He does it, I am surprised and a bit flabbergasted.  As a matter of fact, I go through a range of emotions.  First there is joy; unadulterated joy in the Lord for what He has done, disbelief that He would actually do this thing for me (what made me/us so special?) then apprehension (what will this cost me/us?).  Is 46 9It’s almost an amalgamation of shock, joy, disbelief and apprehension.  Of course, I evaluated these emotions, especially the anxiousness and apprehension and their possible repercussions.  Why are these emotions there?  I know the Lord does not want me to take His blessings for granted, but did He intend for me to accept these gifts with trepidation? I don’t think so! Did you know what I believe about God matters? It matters because what I believe affect my attitude.  And my attitude controls my actions.  Does God give in one hand and take away in the other? What does the Bible say about that?

  1. God is love1 John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
  2. God loves to give James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
  3. God gives freelyRomans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

The next question that needs to be answered is why.  Why does He give us these blessings/gifts?

  1. He gives so that we can give Him glory and honor – Isaiah 25:1 Praise to God, O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things, Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
  2. He gives so that we can tell others about Him (testimony) – Psalms 71:15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousnes, And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.
  3. He gives because He wants to make Himself known to us/ it helps in our spiritual growth – Jeremiah 9:24 But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord, and also II Peter 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
  4. He gives because He loves us – 1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

This is in no way a comprehensive list of the reasons for the Lord’s blessings.  Some explanations we may never receive.  Unanswered prayers are also blessings from the Lord, because Romans 8:28 tells us,  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Isaiah 55:8,9 also reminds us that our ways and our thoughts are not the Lord’s.  We can trust that the Lord is ALWAYS GOOD.

Has the Lord answered, yes, to any of your prayers? Please share.  Has the Lord said, no or perhaps wait?  Please share with us.  closing1brenda

  1. Firstly, those are some “Fierce” shoes! And you are totally rocking them.

This post is along a theme I am very familiar – fear. Why do we fear? Where does our fear originate? We know that fear holds us back from the things we want to do, to say, to love, etc. It can hold us back in our relationships; including our relationship with God. It sounds as if you are “waiting for the other shoe to drop” when you think about all of God’s blessings upon you and your family. Have you given any thought to where this “doubt” of your worthiness to receive these blessings originates?

I searched through some scripture and was led to the book of James. James 1:17 – Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. As you mentioned above. Verse 6, same chapter – But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. Anxiety can sometimes make us feel as if we are “blown and tossed by the wind.” Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything… and verse 7, And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. If one has an intimate and loving relationship with the Lord, where is there room for doubt? Would not absolute faith remove all doubt? II Corinthians 9:8 – And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. The chapter goes on to speak of God being generous and will make you rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion… verse 11. Maybe your blessings, since we know God has a reason for everything that he does, maybe your blessings were meant to be shared with others. Maybe the joy you initially felt was meant to be illuminated so that others may see His good works in you and be drawn closer to him. You have been blessed for a reason. I doubt His purpose was to cause you anxiety and fear. Isaiah 41 has several verses that tell us to not fear 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. 41:31 – Do not fear, I will help you. 14 – Do not be afraid. If there is doubt in one’s worthiness of God’s blessings, maybe it is a sign that there is a disconnect in the relationship somewhere. When fear begins to creep in, insecurities grow. Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is being sure of what we hope for…6 – And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Remember, I Corinthians 12:4 – 6 – There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. there are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. He has determined you are worthy of his love and his blessings – one day His reasons may be revealed to you. ❤ Thank you for an interesting post.

  2. O yes! Our Father is a giving Being BIG TIME! He both gives, His blessings and? His curses! Hahaha! HalleluYah! I always saw and believe only HIS BLESSINGS.

I printed those and pasted them in my wall. Read them all the time, but! Wondered, how come I am the tail not the head–always borrowing not lending, UNTIL?

Father’s Mighty Spirit led me to read and grasp the big IF at the beginning of those blessings and curses. IF you listen. IF you do not listen. WHAT??? “Look at the curses longer than the blessings”, that unmistakable voice came to my ears.

Wow! Clearly it came to me, ‘You and all human beings exist under the curse even before you happen to exist on these earthly grounds, but! Feat not! It’s all for My good reasons that soon shall come to light in these perilous times of the end.”

And so it is happening! And so He is revealing and confirming His written words not just to me but, to all of us. Your post? Simply blessed me to see the Almighty Spirit of our Father moving in the heart of His children to get them acquainted not only with Himself but among ourselves as well.

So, how did the Almighty Spirit applied your writing to me? Beautifully! He let me see my portrait of defeat even up to the moment I read your post! What a Mighty Yah we serve!

He led me to write it all in the post I’m about to publish. Hope you be inspired to read it. All our doings are under His loving control. We are ONE Body in His Spirit. Only? Disjointed for now, but!

His return is eminent, and? He is not coming back to a disjointed body. Thus He is joining us all by the power of His love and wisdom from on high. It never fails. It always avails.

His plan to restore us to the original intent for our creation is in effect. He created us to be loved. To love. His loving family for ever to be. Much love, your sister. 🙂

  3. First of all thank you for visiting my blog. I am going to answer your questions backwards He has answered no in healing my disabilities, but has answered yes to treatments and medications to make my pain easier to live with. Like the Apostle Paul the Lord and His will is sufficient.

  4. He has answered yes but at times as you highlight, His ways are not our ways. In our humanness, we may fail to notice God’s work in the unseen and how it manifests in the seen. Also, our concept of time is here on earth; so my impatience has been my race against the hands of time rather than patience in the Lord.

    Great page!

  8. Yes, I’ve been praying for some people who have been mean to me, and I recently saw two of them and spoke to them without them dumping on me. This was huge! And yes, I don’t know whether it will last, but every little bit helps! You’re right that God is good!

  10. I am a new follower of your blog and appreciate your willingness to share that you don’t always respond to God’s goodness in appropriate ways. I believe this is because we try to evaluate God based upon our experiences with humans. Other people have hurt us, deceived us, used us, etc. and we bring all those wrongs into our relationship with God.

Teach us to trust You, O Lord!

    • Amen, and amen 🙏🏽 I know I do bring quite a bit of my past to my God. You are so right, when you said we evaluate the Lord based on our huma experience. The sad thing about this is the Lord has proven again and again that He isn’t at at like any man we know. May I remember that

  11. I love this because this sounds exactly like me! Whenever everything is going well I constantly have this feeling that something is going to go wrong, sort of like “when’s the other shoe going to drop” feeling. (if that makes sense) I thought it was just me, it’s nice to know others get that feeling. I love the scriptures you provided as well to battle those thoughts, especially James 1:17. Beautiful. Thank you for this post!

    • That’s exactly right! Everything is too perfect 👌 so when will something bad happen? With this thinking we ascribe a character of faithlessness and untrustworthy to our God. And we know that is totally untrue about Him. Thanks for commenting, I was afraid I was the only one out there with these feelings. I surely appreciate it

  12. I guess I have never considered what God’s gifts may cost me… kind of figured that when I gave up self it was all inclusive. But you’re right. 🙂 There are choices all along the way.

I know God is always working and providing, but like you, I notice big answers tend to come in seasons.

Thank you for your testimony. It’s a big encouragement!!
