Hi there, how are you doing today?Β We are in the second week of the first month in a brand new year.Β Wow! How are you doing with your resolutions? Have you made the plans to succeed? What are we going to do differently in order to have a more fruitful year? Or are we going to be the same person, we were last year?Β Do you know no one remains stagnant? We either get better or worse as time goes on.Β Do nothing, we fall back and become worse, intentionally make better habits and we become better people. Doing nothing is really not an option, is it? We all know that on our own, we are not βgoodβ people.
Recently I had an epiphany, a revelation, if you will allow that word!Β Lately, Iβve talked a lot about βsurrenderβ. We need to surrender our will over to the Lord, a βlet thy will be doneβ. But what does it mean to surrender our will? What are we actually doing? Are we supposed to do nothing? According to Google Dictionary (we βGoogleβ everything) to surrender is to βcease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authorityβ. I know itβs hard to believe but yes, we were once enemies of Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:21 reminds us of that. Go ahead; donβt take my word for it, read it for yourself. James 4:7 Therefore submit to Godβ¦ My sweet husband succinctly says it this way, when we surrender or submit to God, we are actually agreeing with God about His desires for our lives, we are in essence saying, βyes, Lord, yes, to whatever You want for my life.Β I will go where You want me to go; do what You want me to do, live the way You want me to liveβ.Β So what is my responsibility? Do I just sit back, do nothing and wait for the Lord to divinely move me or change me? Absolutely not!
When I submit my will; my life to the Lord, that decision comes with work for me.Β Reading and obeying the Word of God is not negotiable, talking with the Lord, bringing my requests to Him are all part of my submission, especially the obeying. I must intentionally walk with the Lord, living my life according to the Word of God.
For quite some time, I thought surrendering meant that I leave everything to the Lord, in that way I am absolved of all blame in case anything goes wrong. When will I learn, that failing is part of life and most times brings growth? When will I remember that it is God who sanctifies, not me?Β Keeping myself in this bubble, never venturing out because I am afraid to fail says, I will never grow close to the Lord.Β Being sanctified is a process that involves repentance and forgiveness. It comes filled with grace and mercy and abounding love. What do you say, come with me in this journey of surrender. I promise you, the Lord is bigger than all our fears combined. Shall we surrender together?
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who have taken the time to followΒ the blog.Β I am humbled by your comments and likes on the posts.Β May the Lord be honored on this adventure.
Have a blessed day and remember: God’s love is unfailing, unwavering and unconditional!

I find this hard to submit, cause I fear God will have great plans for me that I do not want to do and all that I want to do would be left.

I know that feeling. But we must remember that our Lord desires the very best for us. Everything He allows and does is for our good.

So true: “When I submit my will; my life to the Lord, that decision comes with work for me.” I needed to hear that today! Blessings on your writing ministry in 2018.

Sometimes I just the Lord to do all the work. Safer and also easier, but it doesnβt work that way. Thanks for reading

This is such a great, great post. I really enjoyed reading it and I felt that you were talking to me as well as your audience.
I like when you said, “When I submit my will; my life to the Lord, that decision comes with work for me.Β Reading and obeying the Word of God is not negotiable, talking with the Lord, bringing my requests to Him are all part of my submission, especially the obeying. I must intentionally walk with the Lord, living my life according to the Word of God.”
Becuase we are flawed human beings, submitting to something bigger than ourselves is hard; especially when it comes with letting go of our illusion of “control”.
I’m just like you; leave everything to God and I not do any of the work. That won’t produce the life that He calls us for because that will just push us further away. I want to surrender to God, but like I said; as a human being it’s hard.

Doing nothing, although it may be easier is not furthing our relationship with the Lord. But because I hate to fail, I find myself sometimes just not doing anything. I totally understand. Yes we will surrender one step at a time.

That’s actually what I’m trying to do more of this year, surrender to God and me closer to Him. This week has been interesting. I feel like I’ve been reading the scripture in the morning, and tested on it by the afternoon. I’ve literally just been saying “okay God.” for these past few days. Great post! I’m with you on the journey
