Who am I? Am I just Benny’s wife? Am I only Cleo’s and Anna’s mom? Am I a teacher? Am I stay-at-home mom? Perhaps I am homeschool mom?
Who am I? Am I all of these? Or maybe I am none of these…
Do my clothes determine who I am? Am I defined by my health issues? Am I that sickly woman? What consumes my speech? How am I known by those around me?
If all these were taken away, would I be less? Would I cease to exist?
Who am I? What defines me?
A while back, I had a friend, who always referred to me as Mrs. Benny. Although, I am enamored with that handsome guy, I am more than Mrs. Benny. Being married to him does not define me. Too often I forget that what should characterize me is my relationship with Christ. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: Too often I forget that in order to excel at the roles the Lord has blessed me with, I need to keep my eyes on Jesus.
I am characterized by the fact that I belong to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. His Word should define my life. Only when I do not become these roles, will I excel at them. I will be a loving wife, a gracious mother, a patient friend, a merciful teacher, a humble blogger. I will do well and be diligent with the roles, my Lord has given to me.
In this post here, I talk more about what should define me.
What defines you?

Thank you, Jonathan. Our identity is truly in the Lord, Jesus Christ.
