CHANGES A’ COMING

WOW! The month of November is here. Does it seem like October just spent a weekend with us and was gone?  Honestly, where does time go?  2018 is right around the corner! Are you ready, for the changes the New Year will bring?  What changes have been made in your life, throughout this year? Some changes may have been deliberate, but others, perhaps you had no control over.  I should admit at this point, that I do not like change.  As a matter, I have been known to ask the Lord repeatedly for assurance that He really requires ‘this’ or ‘that’ from me.  I like sameness, it provides me with that sense of comfort, I think I need.  Throughout the year, I have made some changes in my life, some such as exercise, watching what I eat and acquiring a kitten to just name a few, have been deliberate. But others, like having two beautiful, very independent girls, who do not need me as much, have been unintentional. The first is a sophomore away at college and the other is a high school senior.  Let me explain why this left me feeling like a ship, without a sail.  The girls and I have spent almost every day for more than twelve years together.  Except for the occasional weekend away, we have been inseparable, due to homeschool.  Now, changes are coming, whether I want it or not.  But change does not have to be bad. Change can be very good, when I do not resist the Holy Spirit’s lead. II Cor 5 17 (Cleo’s drawing)  In II Corinthians, we are reminded that change brings newness; there is new life; salvation gives me eternity with Jesus Christ.  Change is inevitable, did you notice that?  I cannot always control my environment, to produce the outcome I want, nor should I desire that.  Eccl 3 1 Change is necessary; we all grow older, and as seasons change, so must we learn to adapt.  We must adopt a new normal and be okay with that.  II Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.Col 3 10 Change can bring beauty, if we allow it; from a caterpillar to a graceful butterfly.  From once being lead by our ‘old man’ filled with selfish desires and motivated by greed.  But, because of the Lord’s free gift – salvation: a gradual, persistent, inward and outward change takes place, when we allow the Holy Spirit free reign.  The Holy Spirit takes this sinful person and renews her. Rom 12 1 2 He gives her new life, by transforming the mind. Yeah! Change is good and profitable.  What changes have taken place in your life? Are you resisting the changes or allowing the Spirit full control?  Trust Him; He knows what He is doing.   He has not and never will,  NO! NEVER WILL abandon you.  Hebrews 13:5 … For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
